Guild Lotteries

This isn’t a rant about how Guild Lotteries and other forms of in-game gambling are evil and Blizzard should ban these “scammers”. I don’t think they bring any good elements to the game, but that’s neither here nor there.

My issue is guilds that do these Guild Lotteries as like a new master looter donation scam. Example: A guild one of my alts is in runs one of these guild lotteries. I’ve tracked the winners over the past few weeks because they accounce it in chat. And well it’s a bit fishy that all the winners are officers and GM alts. So it just seems like the “Guild Lottery” is just a gold funnel.

But I guess it functions just like it does irl. Rich get richer poor get poorer.

Guild corruption is always like that, same with “that female raider” that always gets loot no matter what even if they aren’t doing good at all.

You have kind of left out how winners are decided which is kinda important.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but you’re not painting the entire picture either.

Exactly what it sounds like. You buy tickets for X amount of gold. Then they have a weekly drawing.

A “Guild Lottery” is where the guild dangles a mount or rare battle pet in front of you for a donation for a raffle ticket. You buy the “ticket” and the guild gets your gold and keep the loot.

Usually in guilds that spam invite and have 999 members.

Unfortunately, those are usually the guilds new players join. You just have to learn lessons the hard way sometimes.

We do it to pay for repairs/pots/flasks/food, with the addon it just picks tickets and we don’t even know who has those tickets /shrug

We play a game at raid break. It’s a roll gambling game. Lowest pays highest. Payment is on honor system.

Fun thing for us. *shrugs
