After 15 years of WoW, you’d think Blizz could come up with a system to do /ginvite by mail to Alts. No one has explained to me why this could not be done. Maybe I’m naive about the evil that could be done, but no one has said anything.
When Classic launches, I’m going to “Sell Myself” as a low-level toon in SW just to do Guild Invites. I’ll never have to do the AH again.

Addons can block whispers. They can’t block in-game mail. Blizzard already made it so people can’t see sub-20 characters in /who specifically to stop Guild Invite spam.
But Allied Races start at 20.
The last thing I need is my new Allied Race characters on other realms I don’t have a guild on having their mailbox spammed with “PLEASE JOIN MY GUILD” because an addon /whos every unguilded level 20+ and auto-sends a mail invite and I have to wade through and manually delete 100+ mails a day just to get to my auctions.

Toons get spam NOW…even when they are already in a guild. When the invited toon gets and accepts the invite, they can turn off the ability in the system settings.
Just say’n…there has to be a way.

Did everyone else miss the word Alts in the OP?
It is a bit of an oversight that even a GM cannot invite their own alt characters into their guild. And with the amount of ninjaing that used to happen when someone got into a guild by pretending to be someone’s alt and then cleaning out guild banks or what not, it seems like that would be a good way to prevent that. Just let people with invite permission invite their own characters to join the guild they are in, at least that way you know it’s actually that person’s alt.

Inviting your own Toons to your Guild is a Major &6%$#%56. A Token or something sent to your Alt (You created the Alt under YOUR account so Blizz knows this and restricts the delivery to any other player). That’s the reason Addons like Super Guild Invite should be banned.

No. JFC please no. The damn auto invite spam I get the second I create a new alt is bad enough, I don’t need that crap in my mailbox too.

It’s my understanding that the new guild recruitment UI currently being tested on the PTR allows invites to be sent to off-line characters who express an interest in a guild. That may be a way to also invite alts.

And if it was a BoA invite token that you can only make if you have guild invite permission (or similar) how would that be abused?

Yes, he said “alts”. But nowhere in there did he specify only alts on your account. He also specified “guild invites by GM”. That gives the impression that he wants only the guild master to have this feature, which goes against the whole “invite your own alts” argument and implies the GM will have the power to invite anyone through mail. That is the problem people have with this suggestion. Auto guild invite addons are a plague. The last thing we need is more spam in game.

Okay i can fix this. If you’re the GM of a guild, lets give you the ability to add your own alts and only your own alts to the guild with the click of a button, and make them automatically have GM permissions.
Bam. Simple.

That’s entirely reasonable. The expectation I get from the actual posted OP is that it’s a ginvite sent through mail, which doesn’t in any way offer to exclude those ginvites from being sent out to people not on your account.
