I still don't get why Blizzard doesn't implement it.
Look at FF14 or Guild Wars 2. WoW is just very far behind.
It's a MMO. You are supposed to belong to a guild, a community. And back in WotLK you were forced to be social, to make new friends.
With this sharding thingie im more distant to my fellow guildies (when not in the same party-warmode)
Server Community is already destroyed with CRZ.

I truly hope that garrisons didn't spoil the water for guild and/or player housing. I honestly don't need anything useful in a house like an auctioneer, profession tables, or a bank. I just want something I could decorate and hang out in.
There is not a doubt in my mind that this development team would not horribly mess up housing, I hope they never try to add it in the game again.
I agree. If any MMO in existence could benefit from the positive social impact of guild housing, its WoW.
While I'm not a big fan of player housing (it doesn't add anything to the MMO environment to my mind) guild housing - if implemented with thought - could be a huge boon.
Perhaps give them bonuses for members of guilds that use and improve them. I don't mean putting in things like auction houses or banks (that would be a minus to social activity, not a plus) but actual individual benefits to guild members. And it would give those who aren't into the high level raiding scene some way of actively contributing to the welfare and health of the guild.
I really can't see a downside to it, myself.

Uh final fantasy 11 had player housing.
It came out two years before WoW.
WoD-Garrisons was a 99.9% solo experience.
Guild Housing is to be shared between your guildies.
(Also blizzard could implement rules to prevent corrupted guild leaders from selling the guild house like property)

Just a guild hall, with a meeting table and a few other tables and a desk, thank you. All I need. I'll fill it with content. Please.

And a hearthstone for that simple guild hall o.o
I bet it'll take blizzard a blink of an eye to make it happen...
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that garrisons were bad on purpose so Blizz could later point at them and say "See, we told you player housing was a bad idea," While also thinking, but Blizzard would never be dishonest, right?
But the realist in me thinks the reason we'll never get player housing is because time investment by the devs, but the devs don't think it's worth it and they're always right.

I support this, I get top bunk!

I'll settle for a door that moves you to an instance of your hall in the anchor city/town of every expac. So, in Legion the door would be somewhere in Dalaran, in BfA, Boralus.

Also Lord of the rings online. Not only can you're guild have a house, but you can have a bunch of personal houses.
They also do Xmogging right since it overlays the character and not the gear. So no running to fix your mog when you get an upgrade. Which was also how Rifts did it.
I'm not sure if Blizzard knows what Guild Leaders already know...
If your friend isn't online, you won't want to come online. With that your friends will not want to come online and so on. Coz this is a Social Game. A massively Multiplayer game. Not a Single Player game.
I think Blizzard should encourage social activity. And the bare minimum of that is joining a Guild.
Eh.. You know all the addons in wow? A vast majority are made by players. So they could always outsource and fans would willingly volunteer to make it happen.

Something something resources, something something effort, something something crappy decrepit engine.
That olde chestnut.

We would hope for a Guild Hall system like Ainz Ooal Gown had. We would get Garrisons 2.0 with basically 0 customization and only disappointment.
Sad to think guilds like Limit, who probably have enough power to conquer a faction, are LIMITed to a "attaboy" by faction leaders playing around like its the Game of Thrones. Guilds should be able to show off their achievements to the world
Because it's a bad idea that always leads to guild drama. It sounds good on paper until it comes time to design the guild hall and only the guild leader and his cliche of friends are allowed to have any say in it.
See what happened with Guild perks. If a guild didn't have certain perks it was nearly impossible to recruit.

Guilds as they stand now have limitations - any sensible GM will set limits on how new members benefit from being in the guild. You don't let a newby member take unlimited amounts from the guild bank, you don't let them kick people or possibly use large amounts from guild repairs, etc. Ranks are earned by participation, and trust earned over time.
The same thing would apply to guild halls. If you contribute whatever items or mats or other things that helped improve guild halls, in time you would earn a higher ranking and be able to contribute to a guild hall more actively. And as in the past, any GM or 'clique' that blocked the rest of the guild off in such a way would lose their members. Nobody sticks around to be used and trampled on.
The developers removed guild perks for their own reasons, I don't recall it having anything to do with difficulties in recruitment.

It feels good to get the reference :)
But yes, if I could create a guild hall with others that would have multi layers that would be amazing. It does not have to functionally do anything, just cases or plaques or something to show accomplishments. Maybe some armor stands of gear from clearing raid difficulties as a guild... you know another whole layer of Transmog.
Maybe a small room for the history of the guild with books that could be filled out by Leaders/Officers of previous guild stories, members, and achievements.
A hall of mounts that the guild could display some of the most prestigious mounts in the game by donating a mount to a guild stable. It would certainly give some credence to continue farming raids like ICC even if you already had invincible.
I do not know how hard all of this would possibly be to implement but I would love if something could be done. If anything it would give me something to do in game with a lasting benefit, even if it means gathering hundreds of materials or going around the world to buy Wood from vendors. It would ultimately be something to do.
It'd be fairly simple to implement. Instead of putting it out in the open world, they could just limit the guild house to an instance.
In the instance, you'd be able to change the texture of the floor, add faction specific buildings, (such as Blood Elf architecture if you wanted to go Blood Elf themed for Horde, or Night Elf architecture if you wanted to go Night Elf themed for Alliance) relative to the plot points they had in WoD garrisons, except you'd be able to move the plot points anywhere in your guild house, with each plot point having to be 40 yards away from each other. Buildings can range from Inns, Lookouts, etc. In the main building, there'd be a guild table with a new UI, allowing guilds to schedule guild activities much like they can do on the calendar but expanding more onto that in it's own interface. In the instance, there could be a guild summoning stone to easily summon members from your guild as well.
Only guild master and select people of guild masters choice would be able to decorate, and anyone would be able to enter the guild housing at where ever the guild instance is set at for Horde and Alliance. Faction changing a guild will reset everything in the guild house, so be cautious.
