Hi guys, I’m here to discuss the idea of a Guild Hall.
A few ideas I had that I think could intrigue a lot of players within the community.
-
Guild Battles - Could work a lot like Wintergrasp or Strand of the Ancients, both guilds through the course of an expansion(s) could level up their guild hall in appearance only (edited) and add different deterrents that prevent the other guild from accomplishing their goal (getting the flag, destroy the object, ect…) and winning will add resources to your guild bank such as mats, potions, flasks, cauldrons, gold ect…(loot from the dead) if both guilds defeat each others guild hall, then they move onto a last man standing Deathmatch.
-
Guild Profession Hall - A quick and easy way to level up professions without having to run all over the cities, you could also donate mats to a guild resource bank that allows other players to craft from, but any mats crafted straight from here will be donated directly into the guild bank, so players can’t just leech off of the guild mats.
-
Class Halls - A neat little feature would be to add a Class hall with in the walls of your Guild Hall, and depending on the upgrades available, your class hall can choose which areas are represented in the Guild Battles (listed above), this area is also designed for upgrading your current class in which ever fashion that may be wither it is upgrading your artifact, skills, or talents.
-
Guild Accomplishment Hall - A place where all of your guild’s feat of strengths, such as monuments to completed raids, and even a section for players achievements, like the really hard solo achievements.
What do you think would be a good addition to a potential Guild Hall?

Guild halls sound good on paper, but would only lead to guild drama. This would wind up being just like guild achieves and levels. Do you remember the looking for guild must be level 25 and have X Y and Z achievements?
Possible features:
-Transmogrifier.
-Guild teleporter. Include the option to teleport to the location of an active guild group (within reason).
-Training dummy.
-Trophy room, containing a trophy from each raid killed in a guild group.

Guild Halls would be a great idea had it being introduced in WOTLK.
Nowadays most guild is just a personal bank guild or dead guild.

If you are talking about the defenses, that wouldn’t really have anything to do with guild levels or anything, every guild could have the same skill sets, just the way to arrange and slow up the other team is what matters.
When they introduced guild levels, it was even more difficult to build a new guild. Most wanted a guild that had all the work already done.
Guild halls with any kind of gameplay benefits would result in the exact same problems. In addition to the in guild drama they’d create as people fight over what to put in it. This has happened in every game that has had guild halls.

All things I listed are purely cosmetic, nothing that has to do with guild leveling just individual leveling, which is what is currently in game just spread apart.
I agree that the guild level system was pure trash and ruined guilds for a long time.
The Guild battles system I mentioned is pretty much just set your base, and then may the best team win.
You’re right though, I did mention leveling up the guild hall over time, that is a mistake, maybe just level it up in appearance.
Before anyone implies this wouldn’t be functional, possible, or that the feature would be ignored, it’s in swtor along with player housing, two things that should have been in this game by now.
And just because someone might answer “I personally don’t think so/like it” doesn’t mean that everyone else wouldn’t love it, proven by its existence and persistence in many other MMO’s.
With this knowledge, WoW is objectively lacking in expected features of an MMO. This is fact, and the only room for opinion is individual reaction to such a state, whether compensative (most likely candidate of fuel for an argument against this), positive or negative.
And if garrisons are mentioned, rethink your whole life please.
We don’t even have player houses, that are simpler and more personal and would have less repercussions.
A guild house seems to be something more laborious and with more human variables than Blizzard is willing to create.
How so?
Just curious as to why you would think it would be more laborious other than larger than the typical player housing structure.
I actually think it would be less laborious, as you wouldn’t need to add customization options which a lot of people would want.
The way I see it, Guild halls are pretty essential to the Warcraft Mythos (Think Reputations) within the Alliance and Horde, their are different battalions/clans, and each one has their own base.
I think Guild Battles would be a lot of fun, when you look at places like Alterac Valley, one player gets designated as the leader of the group (Always the GM if he queues) and the rest of the team has to protect him from the opposing guild, and then when that game is up, it switches sides (Strand of the Ancients) and the other guild has a chance to defend/attack.
And like I mentioned above, these are just ideas, things that I and apparently others think would be kind of fun! obviously every system could be fine tuned and changed in some capacity.
Played SWTOR for a bit, and all the guild flagships and how they were decorated were so entertaining, and made me actually happy to be in a guild. Customizable guild halls would very much add to the guild aesthetic, and (maybe depending on how customizable they could be) could act as new hubs for guild members.
Along with Housing, it is an idea that is over 15 years old.
Blizzard has no interest.
Garrison was he closest they got to either, with them not liking the Garrison. They did not like players hanging in them, instead of being out in the world.
So they see a “guild hall” the same way. They want you to be out doing dungeons/raids with guildies, instead of hanging in a hall.
Guild halls would just make mandatory guild hall alts so people can have access to the player housing they want.
Its just what it will become as players try harder and harder to get guild halls to resemble and then become player housing.
And I think Blizz knows that, so they avoid guild halls just as hard as they avoid player housing, or really anything that might improve their game and make players happy.
We can’t have guild halls. Did you not read the fine print in the blizzard TOS that said fun isn’t allowed?
Blizzard doesn’t want to do even the simplest, which would be a player house.
A Guild house, which involves the interests of more than one person?
I’m skeptical about Blizzard’s ability to achieve something that matches the players’ ideas of what would be a good Guild House, starting with decision making.
Without reforming the guild system before, I do not see a possible future.
As much as I love the idea, here’s part of the problem as well. It won’t age well.
Garrisons got a bit of support with music rolls and decorations later than WoD but… that’s it.
Whatever xpac Guild Halls fall into, there would be very little content for them in the next one and none in the next one after that.

If you make it part of the main city (org/stormwind, it will roll with every xpac.
