Guild Drama, have you had it?

I want to hear some other people’s stories. I went through my first guild break up since I started playing MMORPG’s 20 years ago a few weeks ago.

It’s be rough, people pulling from side to side wanting me to take a side.

Ours was unfortunately about a friend/officer slept with out guild leader while he was married. It’s pretty much put everyone out of place.

Most of us kept our head down and counseled both sides until it came to point where I couldn’t play my main unless I got a name change. I don’t let them see me active in anything bnet. So much hate and one sided arguments.

Has anyone else went through something like this? Share your stories.

Share that Tea.

I had a guild leader try to hook me up with her son and my girlfriend at the time really disliked the guild leader and then i left and everything fell apart in that guild

I’m a bit too elitistic for most guilds now, so i typically just avoid them

Same thing happened to a guild I was in in BC. GM was married and slept with an officer from the next state over. It was a mess. I gave up on raiding and guild after the guild I joined at the start of SL had a bunch of nonsense drama and fell apart.

Just been playing solo and gold making ever since.

It’s a long story.

Did the drama come out of nowhere? I swear we have similar stories. The guild was great until something leaked or dropped in discord. Next thing I know I have crying friends coming to me when I know they were dirty.

It was awful I had to cut them all off. :frowning:

I was once in a guild where there were people who would screen shot whatever people said and send them to the guild leader. It was really kind of creepy.

Yea it was crazy. Just one day I woke up and the guild was basically gone and back then we used a website and vent, but the drama was posted all over the website. Most of us really weren’t THAT surprised but it still sucked. We did so well in Kara and was moving into 25 man raiding, then nothing, lol.

Share it I am very seriously interested on others stories because what I went through was so random and out of nowhere. We have been playing together since WoD. Most from a previous guild playing together since TBC. I’m curious though!

ooooo those are juicy.

enjoy the show!

Nothing big.

If I dislike someone I mute or unfriend. I don’t make waves. I’ve never had to

Very similar situation. Screenshots went into discord with the girl, and long time friend of mine, with the guild leader (not showing face) and the furniture in the background. It was awful and I’m glad I didn’t have anyone around to be petrified like I was.

Married for 10 years, and this destroyed the entire social group.

I’ve had more drama on runescape than wow tbh

In 2010-2011 i was in an all girls clan. As one would expect we were all gay, and a ton of relationships and cheating happened, but the plot twist was that the clan leader had been the only guy the entire time and had pretended to be his sister, and the clan used a website for its chat room offgame and i became an admin for the clan and realized that me and him had access to everyone’s dms and their accounts and mail, and passwords. Obviously that knowledge got out and everything fell apart

My most recent clan was an lgbt one where i was an officer and they had an irl meetup and the leader sexually assaulted one of the officers at the meetup, most of us left following that but some chose to ignore it because that clan gave them prestige in runescape and game mods gave them all player mod status despite us telling the mods how awful those people were

In rest of the Lich King I played Holy Paladin. I was one of the three in the guild, the others being the guild leaders ex-girlfriend and the guild leaders best friend.

One day, the first week of old war, I was assigned to heal a tank on the dragon boss. So I did. My tank was far-ish away from the rest of the raid so I wasn’t near the pack for logs.

The guild leader contacted me and told me that my performance was unsatisfactory and that I was going to be replaced. Why? I wasn’t casting enough flashes of light. I sat down and I explained to him very calmly that according to the theorycrafters, a well geared Holy Paladin in the current content should be spamming Holy Light instead.

His response was to kick me from the guild.

I took a screenshot of the conversation because almost immediately people started whispering me asking what was going on. Rather than explain it I just sent them the screenshot.

He also kicked my tank.

Since I had joined that group, my tank friend and I had been the people who were helping everybody get their dungeons done, generally being supportive, and so on. We were friends to all that supported and nurtured the community. We had become pillars of that community.

Turns out, the guild leader had started dating another holy paladin and was looking to give her my raid spot.

People didn’t like what they saw in that screenshot. Many people gquit in solidarity, out of disgust, and their friends followed. The guild leader resigned to try and save the guild but it was too late. He headed the guild to one of his other friends who disbanded it the next day because it was completely dead.

The moral of this story is to not do the pillars of a community dirty to get points with the e-girlfriend.

Wow, that’s pretty sad. Once I learned these people were sending screenshots to the GM, my friends and I looked for a new guild. Who needs that drama. The guild didn’t survive much longer after that. :woman_shrugging:

So many typing and a few juciy stories above already, Had no clue this was a thing in 2022!

Not guild drama but I was in a pug raid once and two people in it were a couple (guy/girl) and they got into a fight and she broke up with him during the raid. She died on the opulence fight and he was poking fun of her for being bad and she just lost it on him. People thought it was a joke at first until they started getting personal with each other.

Was definitely awkward.

Edit: this was over discord in case that wasn’t clear, not in chat. Like 12-15 people were in it for the raid.

I read this as “flight” and thought she died on airplane. I was horrified until I reread it.

In 22 years I’ve seen some drama in guilds, most however wasn’t WoW related compared to what I experienced in Everquest.

One was more of a Civil War and Boycotts but the one that caused a guild to be Black Listed and sever transfer was the highlight when it comes to Drama. Funny thing was it was about raid loot or more saying it was about a very rare item that has a low chance drop rate and 3 dropped in a row (Or so I read on the guild forms before they were deleted)

What I was told and read, that when the first time it dropped it went to DKP bids. One person called it out how much it sold in the player Bazar. When 2 more dropped is when the drama occurred. From what was said and what you read was this: Both the GM, Co-GM and Officers agreed that the 2 items would be sold off to gear up the guild. The GM and Co-GM took both items for no DKP and sold the items off as was agreed upon. However instead of using the money to gear up the core, the Money went to gearing only the GM the Co-GM and their alts plus characters who were played by family members who didn’t raid (Our raid times normal could start between 5-10pm Mountain time or later based on the whims of the GM). Outraged (Both the officer core and the raiding core), 90% of the officer core and raiding core quit the guild and began posting in the forms.

Eventually the guild got so much of a bad reputation and those still tagged (I left through the whole thing for other reasons) were being black Listed for supporting what happened, the guild couldn’t recruit thus sever transferred off.

Nothing compares to what exisited before social media.

I was part of a super casual and chill guild during Cataclysm. One day the leader decided to merge us with a more raider focused guild and absolutely imploded ours.

It sucked.
