Guild Character Limit 2021

I’m curious, now that we can have 50 alts per account, what is the character limit we can have in guilds these days? is it still 1000? or has it been raised?

It its my understanding it’s still 1000.

It is still 1,000.
And so are communities. Also capped at 1,000.

I don’t think we need more. GMs need to not hoard inactives and do some cleaning every once in a while. NO ONE has 1,000 truly active members IMO.

Well, there was that guild on Earthen Ring. I don’t even know if it still exists though.

I mean, if we really do the numbers:

Average Alts per player I want to say is 4?

I know some have 10 and some 2 or none but I think 4 is a good average when you balance it out.

That would mean that the real max capacity of guilds is something like less than 250 individual players?

Still that’s a lot of people to manage.

You can always do a limit on how many alts a person can have in the guild. That’s what a lot of popular guilds like g4 are doing, anyway.

Members? No.

But members can have more than 1 character. And implying that only one of their characters should be allowed in the guild at once is extremely toxic.

My Horde toon was kicked from her guild because I main Alliance and I was gone for 3 months at the start of Shadowlands. Logged in after 3 months to no guild and my guild rep reset.

All because the Horde guild I was in was full so the GM purged anyone offline more than 30 days regularly. Even if they knew you were still around just on another realm.

I mean, that’s how it goes.

Guilds are not storage places for your toons. For that make your own guild.

You might need another guild more attuned to your play style, but I don’t see how that GM was in the wrong.

And I never advocated for one character per player policy.
I said, we don’t need a higher limit because people don’t really know what it takes to manage so many people at the same time, successfully

You also shouldn’t kick people for playing more than 1 character.

Especially if they tell you in advance they’ll be gone for a few months.

all great answers and shared information, the least trolling thread i have ever made, they didn’t get slammed by troll bots

Heck, before I deleted my characters on Garrosh halfway through BFA, I had a character IN AN ACTIVE GUILD even though I hadn’t played since Cataclysm on that character.

Because I had told the guild leader I’d be back. (But then I rerolled on Proudmoore and forgot all about those characters. <_<)

Kicking someone after 6+ months is understandable, even if they tell you they would be back. But 3 months, when you were told they’d be back and it’s the start of the xpac? Not so much.

Listen, to each their own. Stop trying to say what GMs can and cannot do with their guilds, that’s the privilege of being GM.

The more you answer the more it seems to me you are a player that is transient, and can’t commit to a particular group for an amount of time. Altoholic to the bone.

Some people don’t like having those players in their guilds. And that is okay.

Like I said, you might need to find more similar minded people that all log into multiple servers on the daily and join them.

If you’re leaving servers months at a time, what benefit people get from keeping you?

No. I rerolled once in Cataclysm because Garrosh was extremely homophobic.

My Horde was in her guild for 4 Years before being kicked last month for being gone 3 months at the start of an expansion, when they knew I’d be on my Alliance. And I was still active in their discord

My Alliance have been in their guild for years.

well, i can see 1 year character audits, but 6 months is still a little extreme, as a guildmaster that’s why you make data sheets on everyone so you can pick out the game quitters from the active players that just neglects their alts

Our guild has a very active GM who has been GM since 2008. We have active officers. Our guild is ran very well. There is no reason to limit the guild roster cap to 1K when with so many new races people are always needing to add their alts.

That’s a weird thing to say that people don’t know what it takes to manage so many people. CEOs do that all the time.

Boost it to 2000 or more!

The guild character limit is not inclusive.

it’s a weird thing to necro a thread from 2 years ago, to respond to someone.

The guy you responded to in this 2 year old thread hasn’t logged in in over a year.

At least the topic is still relevant.
