Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

It is a shame this has been pretty successfully swept under the rug.

I’m still making noise. Whether or not that’s a futile attempt to draw attention to this, I don’t know. But I’m still making noise, even if my sub runs out today!

Well, the bright spot in this topic being pulled into Bug Reports is that you can continue posting even after your sub runs out.

I truly believe you are right. I think there is a large group of us that took them at their word with early replies. I was honestly taken back when the Game master told me they have finished with restoring the items they essentially choose to restore. Especially after being told early on be patient and we will get this thing sorted out.

I welcome every reminder that the data lost was only pixels, as that reminds us all that the game sold to us is pixels, which we paid for, and a small failure quickly hushed up hints towards previous hushed-up failures that we ourselves weren’t affected by.

Sorry to see you go now Phreska…and I totally understand now …this whole freaking mess with losing so many guild banks items with no response from Blizzard other then we tried here is a stack of cloth you lost and that is it…it doesn’t wash right at all…

Oooof… well, this is “interesting”. Got back to the game a few days ago after being gone a while. No records or logs left, but going by memory it looks like most of 4 bank tabs of crafting mats are gone. Doubt I’m getting anything back and even if something was mailed, it’s likely have long expired. Thanks, “gaming press”, for your prompt reporting on this incident, so I’d know to log in to check. cough

A couple of random thoughts, not that it’s going to change anything:

  1. I’m ticked off and annoyed, but what I want isn’t compensation or an apology, but a better explanation of what went wrong and what, if anything, is being done to make sure this isn’t going to happen again. Yeah, “it’s only pixels”, but Blizzard’s entire business is selling us pixels and access to them, and so I expect them to keep my pixels safe for me. Why build my Hearthstone card collection, or buy battlepasses or pony up for D4 expensive shop cosmetics or chase gear in WoW if the next update can accidently most of it?
  2. There will be far, far fewer bnet purchases from me going forward. Not just because I’m bitter, but simply because this bug evaporated a good chunk of my WoW wealth that I used to fund my bnet balance with. I can’t possibly justify a $90 mount purchase with real money, but 6 tokens… maybe, if I really wanted it. Not anymore.

Anyway, so sorry to all who lost their things in this mess. This isn’t right or fair and should’ve been handled far better, to say the least.

Uh oh. I just went into a guild bank that had been only partially devestated by Blizz in August to get out some old meats & fish to help a new character level cooking. The GB opened to things in the first tab, but the other 5 tabs were empty & they were NOT empty last week. I know there is a reset tomorrow. Keep an eye on anything you had left or have put into any GB again :frowning:

The worst part of all of this for me is that I HATE the way the professions work since DF. There is truly no need for 3 levels of everything we mine or herb or skin or make. Since Guild Banks are not secure, I have tried to store mats on my characters. Problem is, I am also afraid to put things in my personal banks or the warbank or resource bank. I think it is pretty obvious that if more bank things go missing they will be handled like all our GB losses; brushed off & swept under the carpet again.

OMG NOOOO! Not again! Someone was nice enough to send me a bunch of mats for my main bank when they left the game (not someone I knew but someone from our community HERE) so I’ve been slowly adding to it.

This is scary. NOTHING is ever secure again. And they haven’t been good to guilds for a long time.

I also hate how the professions work. Agreed . . . we don’t need THREE STACKS of the same kind of mats. With how scarce the better mats are, how slowly the knowledge grows (unless you do every single patron work order, which also take mats to do) I think it’s another way for them to make money from the Whales who want to get ahead FAST or those who want to get the best crafted gear fairly early and might resort to buying gold tokens to buy mats.

And yeah, they will sweep it under the rug because they know they can.

If it happens again, or a similar bug happens, they’ll keep sweeping it under the rug as long as people keeping paying them. The best thing to do is not buy their FOMO store items, not buy the year sub, and honestly, play something else. They’ve made it pretty clear that the only thing they care about is the money, and it’s been a downhill slide since they brought in the store. If you keep paying, you’re saying they can delete your things, your progress, and not even give a genuine apology or even a decent attempt at restorations, and you’ll keep giving them money.

They did this, check the first post.

I see you’re struggling to understand this, that’s okay. It’s a bit of a difficult concept, so I’ll explain it for you. No need to be embarrassed in asking for help :relieved: The key word in that sentence is “genuine”, meaning sincere or authentic. Their apology was insincere, and therefore not genuine, and people like myself and many others also feel their response is inadequate. Their “attempt” at restorations was also inadequate, and they still have not verified whether restorations are finished or not. There are over 4000 comments in this thread, which is a very big number, and even if we remove the comments from people being contrarian, that’s still a lot of comments from people being unhappy with the official response! I’m sorry you’re finding this difficult to understand, but don’t worry, I’m sure if you keep trying you’ll get there soon! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Whether or not you are happy with the response is irrelevant. The fact is they apologized and returned what they could. It seems you are the one having trouble understanding. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just put the trolls on ignore, the thread is so much nicer when you don’t see their posts :smile_cat:

They’ve been here since the beginning, fairly sure they’re some sort of plants or possibly even Blizzard employees trying to make people feel bad for being upset we got screwed over. They just keep repeating the same garbage over and over, and obviously have no business here.

Ignore is definitely the best option, if you’re having trouble because the troll thinks they are crafty having a private profile, just let us know, you can still easily add them to your ignore list.

Yea this is kind of my thoughts too. What else has happened that we were not aware of or affect by, but others were only to be lied to and covered up by Actiblizz and now Microblizz.

I didn’t really think it was a thing when I heard how the company was being run but then uncovered some information that past leadership had the notion that “if we can’t run a game into the ground, we’re not interested in buying it or developing it”… seems to be on brand if you ask me.

The thing that was even more interesting is, once I put the toxic trolls w/HPD issues on ignore, other areas of the forums are also more enjoyable. Apparently, they post more frequently than I realized.

I have stopped using my GB entirely…and really hate this happened to you again.

My 7 tab guild bank sits empty. I will likely never use it again. What a waste.

Those aren’t mutually exclusive things. I can be aware of the faults of the company and still annoyed and wanting a better resolution for the live service I pay for.
