They aren’t.
They are sharing all your data with 3rd parties without your knowledge or consent.
If you have a Facebook account, you might be able to join the Class Action lawsuit at ClassAction dot org/join-video-game-investigations (remove the word dot and put a . in it’s place). Scroll down to find the Blizzard one. It is free to join the lawsuit. Also, you can just type in Blizzard in the search bar on that page and it will pull up a bunch o lawsuits going on atm with Blizzard.
Still waiting on my items Blizz!
Not forgetting about this!
Get on it!
Ironically one of the side quests is part of the overall Assistant to the Assistant Guest Relations Manager; the quest is The Case of the Missing Mementos. Some people have said besides crafting materials, pets etc. that was lost where letters from long lost friends that no longer play the game.
Ironically another quest you did to find food items for Pirates to cook up …most of those items were old world stuff that many whom lost stuff from the guild banks might have had saved up but no gone cause of their mess up…I myself had couple of the items saved in one of my guild banks…
I found like two of the items in my bank, but I thought I had more. But I remember that quest and lucky for me other than the small sac, where quick to get again.
Yup, they robbed you blind, and got a half-reared apology for it.
You should also assume that NOTHING is safe, not your characters, mounts, achievements, NOTHING. As the trolls love to point out, Blizzard owes us nothing, their terms of service state they own everything, and we can pretty much eat dookie.
That’s why I cancelled my sub, and will never buy into a Blizzard product ever again. I only check back on this thread in the (apparently futile) hope that things will be somehow made right. They claim they can’t restore stuff, which is either a)a lie, they’re just too cheap to do it; or b)they are incompetent and did not have this critical data backed up. Either option is a poor one, and makes this a company to avoid their products.
Sorry you’re in this boat with us, I would advise cancelling your sub, and stating the terrible handling of this issue as the reason, and find other games, from a better company, to play.
I only began to realize this after this thread was moved to Bug Reports. Just looking at the sheer number of bugs in the bug forum, including ones I’ve run into and my guildmates have run into, every time they “fix” one - the chance the GB will go poof again is likely to happen.
I didn’t play DF (well only to level my main to max and then stopped) so I am not sure if DF was this bad or not, but SL sure was not (or at least that I recall).
Not that I noticed, it seemed mostly ok. Everything started really going to dook with TWW prepatch as far as I could tell.
I’ve been playing since before original BC launch, and I have never seen the playerbase treated so poorly as now.
I’m still in denial that I don’t play anymore, and more than likely never will. I used to love Blizzard, not that I thought they were flawless, but I always felt like they took care of us and we could more or less rely on the game, and it’s sad that feeling is totally gone.
Yeah they really screwed over player base with this now …one of my guild mates lost 4 private guild bank fully stocked…all gone…everything …and he didn’t even get 1 piece of item returned to him …I wasn’t effected luckily…but I can feel for those that were …it damn sad way everyone has been treated by them…
Believe me I’ve been giving strong consideration to just packing it in and being done. That was many many years of items and it feels pretty bad to just see them poofed into nothing basically overnight. Especially since the response we got boils down to basically “Oh no!.. so anyway”
Obviously, I have no idea if they plan to offer any kind of compensation to us but since they’re claiming the data is just plain gone I can imagine the answer to that is no. Since it’s way better to just delete peoples data and give them nothing than to accidentally give someone something they shouldn’t get. /s
I dunno man… it’s all just pixels but it felt some kinda way to see it all gone.
No it does, I agree. Just my coping mechanism for losing so much time. Truthfully, when I saw my empty bank I kind of had tunnel vision and felt a little sick to my stomach to see it all gone.
I am very disappointed with Blizzard’s total inability to resolve this issue. Many items have disappeared and there is not a single proposal for a solution or compensation. My guild’s bank is still empty and no one has the courage to deposit anything into it anymore. After all, if they can’t solve a widely documented problem, how can they guarantee that it won’t happen again?
Blizzard said that they would “try” to recover the items and that they would be sent to the guild master’s email, but I never received that email, nor any minimally satisfactory response after that.
So, Blizzard. Here’s a suggestion for you. I know this idea may seem radical or unusual, but have you ever heard of something called a backup BEFORE a major update?
