Bingo! I do not believe for second they cannot replace every single item you can see in your log. Complete and utter nonsense
And, if you can see it, Blizz can see it. Your list has a lot of pricey items. ughâŚ
Not sure why my first post disappeared, Iâll try posting the missing items in a better format. Hopefully this can help them identify other lost items for people.

âIncompleteâ restoration? I havenât even gotten anything on Moneza-WyrmrestAccord, the GM and lone guild member of the guild heâs in, even though the guild bank lost stuff in this incident.
Ironically, the only thing that was left and didnât get deleted in the first place was all the fourth of july sparklers he had in the last tab.
How do you (Blizzard) propose to properly compensate us for those items you âcan notâ restore, please?
Also, how do you propose to compensate Guild Masters for their time spent moving all the recovered items back into their guild banks, in the proper locations. I do not believe that any one would label this type of make-work as âfun.â Since you (Blizzard) are refusing to properly finish the restoration yourselves, you should compensate the guild masters for doing what should have been your work (i.e. putting the lost and recovered items back into their proper places).
No work for me since they apparently canât restore anything of mine at all. Woopsie!
So:
- A month ago, stuff began disappearing from guild vaults
- Some folks lost one or two items, some folks lost entire tabs
- There was no way of players knowing what was lost
- This continued for days
- Blizzard provided no meaningful updates except in a thread in EU
- In particular, response from CS in the US was a mixture of silence and âstop reopening this ticket or we will action your accountâ
- This affected, at a minimum, hundreds of customers, and at a minimum, hundreds of thousands of items (Iâm certain it was at least millions)
Blizzardâs response now:
âAh well, yeah, our bad, anyway, get on with your life.â
They literally donât care, they know you will stay sub and buy their next expansion and the same for everyone that lost their item.
Explains they donât retain logs forever, but that theyâve spent the last month combing through as many as they could to salvage what they could
âOh my god, why do they hate us?â
EDIT: And for the record, yes, they could have acknowledged the issue sooner than a month later. But to say that they didnât do what they could is just being obtuse.
Itâs really disappointing what weâve seen with this debacle. Also itâs already been a month? Yikes. Time is flying!
Good thing my guild vault is made up of dust, 30 gold and that random health potion from 3 expansions ago
A GM back in the day told me they keep logs ~1 month, but that was in regards to chat logs and many years ago.
I imagine with guilds, itâs more likely the last X thousand âtransactionsâ in the bank.
People who think itâs realistic for them to be able to retain everything donât know how data storage works lol.
I would wager the majority of guilds will get everything back. They even say the restoration will only be incomplete for some.
Thatâs not what they said lol. They said they had to identify the bug and have restored what they can, but there may still be lost items.
Iâm having a good time with TWW, but itâs got beta level of bugs going on.
Online/web/cloud âservicesâ log all kinds of stuff for internal use.
Then the logs become part of âanalytics,â along with stuff thatâs preserved specifically in order to research bugs, address customer problems, address operational issues, answer LE requests, and so on.
Yes. âMy badâ⌠Thatâs what they said. Not that they did what they could, but data was unrecoverable.
^^^^
Not complete without some simp defending this monumental incompetence from Blizzard!
Better a âsimpâ than a futile doomsayer with nothing to contribute.
I would be astonished to find that some âmaintenance processâ that creates/deletes/alters items in game is not exhaustively logged. Thatâs a worse problem than the bug itself.
Among other things, you have to have this information in order to detect things like dupes.
There really is literally nothing worse that can happen in WoW than items being deleted. Itâs basically deletion of an account, one bit at a time.
Its never happened before, in the history of the game.
Where is Blizzardâs I.T. department? Do they not do database backups?
