Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

What the heck is CS’ function anymore? >,<" Customer-NO-service. :frowning:

edit: I keep looking at the quoted phrase and honestly wonder - what does CS even do now? They no longer have a purpose except for maybe characters getting unstuck? - Everything else is directed here. Why have a CS at all? I don’t understand this. >.<"

I got the exact same reply. Just a straight copy/paste response to your ticket that they probably didn’t even read. Providing an answer that isn’t helpful about a resolution that didn’t happen and directing us to post in forums that locks our threads and stuff us into this hole to be ignored. Such customer service, much wow.

…they really opened with “Hello disgruntled player”?? Seriously?

So this might be why they’re locking and deleting anyone asking or mentioning it in any other forum. If we’re all here, maybe the ‘devs’ think ‘everything is ok, we fixed that already?’ O,< Are they unaware ?

I can’t even get into the upcoming anniversary. I absolutely do not care about it. I feel sad, because I’ve been playing Blizzard games since the 90s. I know they are no longer ‘Blizzard’, which is truly disheartening.

I met a person that’s been playing about a month or 2, and just got a year sub for the mount. She knows about the guild bank situation, but I didn’t ask her - like really? Do you know they can just say there’s no way to get your stuff back? >,<"

I’m still confused about this situation. It’s so weird they just do not care at all. The first response from them was so legalistic-looking, it didn’t sound like this mattered at all, to them.

I ask folks if they’ve heard about the data loss and let players know this is happening.

On another note, I’ve noticed my reputation for “Earthen” keeps resetting. “You are now friendly with Earthen.” - The reputation experience bar is reset to friendly. It’s weird because I have 17 renown with them, and I’m afraid it will all get reset.

Did anyone experience the Achievements for DF renown being reset at the same time? I logged in to suddenly getting Achievs for maxing out all DF rep - which I had previously already maxed out. It was some time after the GB thing. I wondered if it happened to anyone else. Like did we all get a reset for Achievs for max DF renown? I’m at least grateful they did that @__@ if it was erased.

edit: bad typing

I have basically shut down my guild bank and have decided to clean it out.
Right now only the money in the gbank will stay there to help raiders.

The gbank is probably still unstable its simply the fact that they have not explained what has happened in detail and somehow do not have backups of our gbanks previous to the install of the war within that makes me believe this.

Every company should have backups for emergency purposes, to restore information in case of a major issue hits it. This is not an earthquake or a flood, so it scares me that they can not restore data properly. It basically a major flaw in how they run their data recovery plan.

They still have all their PTR servers, (they didn’t fall off the face of the earth), they should be able to load up a backup on those and easily save the guild data over to a database and then use that database to restore the data to each guild.

Are they stating to us by omission that they do not have a way to validate our data is safe?
Does this also apply to our account data?
Personal information?
Home addresses?

I was one of the first guild owners that posted about this and even created a video which politely showed what was missing. Others have done so now and have even put up video updates and explained things in detail. We even had a game reviewer cover this issue. Nothing has changed, no new updates, we just have to accept the loss according to the blues who did post.

And of course they move our post complaining about this data loss to the general discussion area where no one monitors for bugs, where the trolls just post freely and try to derail threads.

Its horrible that they can’t assure the players that their information and how they retain it is safe.

What is next?

Are we going to lose access to our characters one day because of the next big data loss, are you going to say “oops we made a mistake” and ask the users to forget about it?

Is this what blizzard has become?

lmao of course not

I have a busy day today, but I will cook up an adequate reply to this joke of a problem solving tentative.

I’ve been spammed with that Earthen system message at least twice per session upon interacting with an NPC (usually it’s the flight master).  I can’t recall exactly when it started, but it’s definitely been a thing since at least the earthen race became unlocked.

For myself, the achievement spam did not occur at the same time the “You are now friendly with the Earthen” reared its irritating head.  It came weeks later on October 1st (a maintenance day) and I was less than thrilled to have the original dates wiped out.

Vrakthris, Support forum agent has clarified what CS staff do multiple times in the past, and has made a handy guide.

Essentially because they do not make game changes, development does.
They can’t help in this case because Development was not able to verify the losses.

They also do provide billing and account support, help recover hacked accounts, and do so on many Blizzard games, not just wow.

It´s crazy how they keep going by the “some players may not receive all back”, which is such a blatant lie.

90% of the people did not get a single item back yet, leave alone anyone more than a few in total. Those replies make me more angry than the actual loss of stuff.

I hate it if people are rude and toxic, playing games with the victims knowing they are in the wrong.

Time to go back watching some Disney, as that is what I am doing now in my free time since WOW backstabbed me.

They backed it up, changed something that borked it up “hiding” all the things from us. Had a GM tell me in a ticket he could “see” the items in this guilds bank, but it was hidden from us for some reason.

Then probably overwrote the backup and poof, gone.

Since then, we began using the bank again and it has been stable so far. However, all my mats stay in my warband bank, just in case…

This is not how normal companies operate. Developers develop the new code, fix issues, etc. There are support staff with the proper tools that handle customer issues.

And there is one of the issues. If they can’t determine who had what, then they are doing it wrong. These kinds of things are in a database and should be logged.

I feel pretty confident they won’t lose anything required to bill me.

They’re pretty keen on that, it’s true.

Exactly they can lose our data and say “oops we made a mistake our bad”, but they can’t repair said mistake.

How about giving a free 24 month sub to all the guild masters who lost data?

From what I can tell, the Earthen thing is not data loss. Earthen isn’t a reputation in the game anywhere I can see, I suspect it is just a necessary function in the back end that many generic NPCs are tied to “Earthen” as a player faction, similarly to how every other race is tied to a particular reputation in the game.

Oh they most definitely “can” do something about bugs, they’re just (apparently?) choosing not to this time

There’s no way a multi-billion dollar company that literally specializes in software/database stuff “can’t do anything about it”… I don’t buy that for one second

Its not a lie at all. Just stop. Its unfortunate some people lost some stuff but they arent doing any more about it.

The bug was fixed. What they can’t do is have accurate data that was irrecoverably lost.

Any ticket I made or bug report submitted was answered with either be very patient and that the items were being returned so stop bothering the GM’s. After 2 months of these responses and a still empty guild bank, I am done.

I’ve been around since vanilla and have forgiven many bugs but this one has really soured how I enjoy the game. In a few more days, my subscription runs out and won’t be renewed.

Happy WoW Anniversary!

They’re too busy fixing delves and pushing the 20th anniversary celebration to care about catastrophic data loss, or mythic+ balance, or pvp saddles, or keeping reputation bars from resetting.

You keep saying that, do you remember the “wall of no”?

Yea, for years they couldn’t bring Classic back because they basically didn’t have that data backup. And then, when they realized how much money they were losing due to private servers, Classic servers magically got added.

I wonder what could be different… could it be they would lose money if they actually tried to restore the data? That couldn’t be it, naaaa.

Yea, you got me this time blizzard. Wiped out years of gathering time without so much as an explanation. The only reason I didn’t quit is because I’m actually enjoying TWW. But if you hit me this hard again, we’ll be done.
