I am wondering if any one knows of an HC guide that discusses all of the odd rare MOBs that might kill a toon. I was in SW and got jumped by two Old Town Thugs. I was not on that quest, and SW is the quintessential example of a “safe” zone. I am thinking of a guide that also would mention the dragon above SW, and the monster in the canals, all of which I only learned about after my toon died. In 14 years of continuous playing, raising a new toon every couple of months (over 100) I have never seen the Old Town Thugs before. I am looking for a guide that will also mention the extreme jump in DPS dealt by the Defias Smugglers, compared to the Defias Looters in Westfall, also the Dust Storms that are there. The Dragonkyn Whelps in Redridge also deal an exceptional amount of dammage compared to the other NPCs next to them. None of these dangers are noticeable when you have infinite rez. I have not yet gotten to level 20 and thus cannot give examples from higher levels. I really hate the idea of making it to (say) 42 and dying by finding a rare level 48 in a 40-45 area.
They spawn when someone accepts https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=1447/the-missing-diplomat
You’ve leveled 100 toons.
You should know to stay out of dark alleys by now.
Ooh maybe that RestedXP addon/guide tells you where to go and what to avoid?
Deathlog and classic bestiary partly do this
Deathlog shows you what kills people the most who have the add on, it also has a “heat map” of areas where people die the most
Bestiary shows the abilities of monsters
Redridge - Gnoll bashers ( will stun you), Blackrock Outrunners will net you, there’s quite a few elites in this area, Bellygrub is a killer, Black whelps are nasty, Redridge overall is just a really dangerous zone for its level
Westfall - Trappers will net you, Defias casters can pack quite a punch if you’re not ready for it, but they can also be line of sighted pretty easy
Loch Modan - Nessie will kill you but is pretty rare, there’s a patrol trio of Horde elites to watch out for
Duskwood - Stiches will feast on your bones, Morladim & Eliza both need to watch out for
Barrens - For Horde there’s an elite Alliance patrol, zebras and striders can ruin your day
Stonetalon - I never spent much time here ever, just never seems worth it so I dont know
Ashenvale - Opposite faction towns will flag you
STV - invisible panthers, stay out of the arena (always assume there’s a rogue there waiting to gank you)
Un’goro crater - Devilsaurs will eat you
Tanaris - sometimes the goblin guards will attack people, I don’t remember the reason why
Swamp of Sorrows - I think it’s this one with the big elite dragon that wanders around
Searing Gorge - I think has the ogre elite that starts with a G? , will combo people to death super fast
Those are the most common ones off the top of my head
Murlocs in general are dangerous
Caves in general are dangerous
Assume that any escort quest = death unless you have researched it ahead of time or have done it previously
I /gquit a guild where that thing was spamming in /guild earlier today.
Only if you stand in the middle of one of their camps or you are an HMP.
How can you have levelled 100 characters and never done the missing diplomat quest where the old town thugs spawn?
It’s a pretty major alliance quest chain and kind of hard to miss.
Also unless you’ve been AFK levelling while watching Netflix it’s kind of obvious how hard some mobs like the redridge whelps hit.
huh? it doesn’t by default, what was it spamming
“I just leveled 14 to 15 in 18 hours.”
Weird, that’s off by default, idk why people would bother turning that on
I think it was a guild thing.
After about the third one I dipped.
Unrealistic, I won’t have these blatant lies just thrown about in regards to RestedXP. We all know 18 hours is way too fast for that guide when discussing leveling 14-15.
lol
It was just an example off the top of my head.
