Guide: How To Quickly Gear A Fresh Alt

I posted this in the arena forums for someone asking about ilvl, thought some people out there might get use out of this. I lvl’d my monk to 120 last week and was quickly able to get 365+ within 6 days playing a few hours a night.

Easiest and quickest gear progression on a new char or outdated one:

    1. WQs, do this first and get all items and AP from quests that you can. Complete emissaries.
    1. Immediately after go do a full clear of all rare mobs in Arathi Highlands & Darkshore with a group finder group. Every boss has a chance to drop 340-355 loot depending on which zone.
    1. Get 2 tokens and kill The Lions Roar & Ivus in Arathi and Darkshore if they are active. Use a token on Ivus 100%, but Lions Roar is up to you. You can save that extra token for LFR if you want to target a specific Azerite piece.
    1. If you got a few lucky drops for ilvl from Rares, proceed to any queue for the warfront 370 quest if you’re eligible. If you’re not eligible proceed to step 5 and return when you are.
    1. Heroic Dungeons, Darkshore Warfronts, Timewalking (if active)
    1. Mythic Dungeons + LFR raid at ilvl 350.
    1. Cap PvP week 1 for 375 weapon. At this point after a few Mythic dungeons and LFR with any luck you will be 355-370 ilvl and hopefully have a few pieces with double traits. Yolo queuing 3s is the fastest source of conquest, 2nd to yolo RGBs, and then 2s.

Ideally do World quests after doing locked ilvl content like world bosses and rares you will get higher rewards. If you want to push your world quest gear to the cap asap, crafting and boe gear and raise ilvl even higher.

Only thing I’d take out is Heroic dungeons. They’re a complete waste of time, unless there’s a good WQ in one for an upgrade

  1. Get your hands on whatever things your alts can craft at ilvl 315
  2. WQ until 320
  3. WQ/Arathi until 335
  4. Done… WQ/Darkshore/Arathi until you feel like stopping.

been doing that now for three weeks. Just hit 370. I must have worse luck ever. My dad ran dungeons, then added to this by doing heroics and hit 380 in about a week.

Well, of course if you can get those then get those. (I forgot they can craft that high since the last patch)

I believe the OP means a bonus-roll token. Seal of Wartorn Fate i think it is called.

Their called Seal of Wartorn Fate, you can purchase 2 per week to bonus roll for an extra chance at loot on a boss of your choosing. For horde the NPC for this is located in the same room as the transmog vendor and Azerite reforger in Zandalari :+1:

Don’t worry too much about it. They usually just roll some gold.

Oh no! I’m thinking about all the loot you’ve potentially lost out on… that’s a shame :sweat_smile:

Yeah the token system has been in place since MoP and every expansion since then has had a token of some sort. The good news if there are any bosses you’re already locked out of, you can still go back rekill them this week and it will let you use your token roll :+1:

Oh wow. I just re-joined in August after leaving mid-MOP. I didn’t even know about them then.
