If you haven’t already, this patch is a great time to get the Fel Werebear from the Guardian Druid Mage Tower.
I just completed it following the guidance to use a M+ build. I dropped Raze for Rank 2 of Fury of Nature, and picked up Convoke as well.
I don’t play bear and managed to beat it. I used mostly MoP crafted gear, enchants, sockets, etc. Shadowcore Oil and an Hyper Augment Rune too.
Was it overkill? Most likely. Am I bad at playing Druid? Absolutely, so I needed the crutches.
Almost all of the fight was pressing Moonfire. Swipe, Thrash and Seed Pod were used to help out with the Nethor Horrors, along with Frenzied Regen, Ironfur and Barkskin as needed. Spent about an hour on it tonight and finally got Kruul down in two Annihilates.
Feels great to have achieved this awesome looking form!
Again, I am bad at playing bear and was able to get it! I strongly recommend you give it a shot if you’re on the fence! Use whatever crutches you need, but it’s very, very doable right now!
MoP Crafted Gear? Were they made with Relics of the Past? All gear scales down to ilevel 120 in the Mage Tower now, but will not scale up Anything below that is useless. If you join the Timewalking Discord, MoP crafted gear is no longer recommended over simple Dragonflight gear.
You can even use both the Dragonflight World PvP 2-set bonus and the 2-set bonus from Primalist (Elemental Overflow) gear. They both work in the Mage Tower and are very easy to get.
Yup! Relic of the Past IV. Ilvl is 127 and accepts enchants that max out at 140.
It worked for me!
I did have the Primalist 2-set on. I didn’t know about the PvP. Perhaps I’ll figure out that one out when I get around to doing the other three specs! I did use SL rings too for the socket.
Thanks for the motivational post. I got some of the appearances when it was current but never even tried ret nor holy. I really like the ret Paladin Ashbringer MT skin so reading this has got me interested again in trying it!
I appreciate it! I just want to clarify, in case there’s confusion, that the original weapon appearances aren’t available anymore (perhaps one day they will return). The only thing you get for completing MT on a specific class is an armor set. Guardian Druids were the exception and received both a class-wide transmog set and the Fel werebear form.
What changed that it is doable now since it still is scaled… unless the scaling is off now post 10.1 or 10.1.5.
I may try for it soon but I’ve lost interest in WoW that I have no reason or will to bother. I think the only thing I’ve done in-game last handful of months was just repost auctions and log back out. Oh and the trading post stuff to get the monthly reward.
Moonfire is strong. I think that’s the difference perhaps. I was able to stay outside of the P1 aura most of the fight and Moonfire spam while in bear form. I’d only go in to Skull Bash when necessary, and drop a Seed Pod.
I did change to Moonkin form twice: once to start the fight with a Moonfire + Convoke, and once more later in P1 to Convoke again. The rest of the fight (including a Convoke to finish off Kruul) was spent in bear form.
You do still have to pay attention to mechanics. It’s not like launch where people were negating mechanics with engineering traps or anything of the like. You still need to kick, stay out of frontals, use Barkskin/Ironfur (especially during the second Annihilate), Frenzied Regen and orbs in panic situations, etc… I did take full advantage of orbs during Kruul.
I hope this thread gets more attention. Now is a great time to try and get the form. They nerfed the Guardian fight in a few places, to make it less brutal. Like, Kruul starts at 50% health in phase 2 now, as opposed to 100%. I think the little phantoms do less damage now too.
