I can’t believe how easy it is, I kept hearing how easy druid tanks but I’m beside myself. I’m no seasoned tank and I looked like a pro! OMG the mitigation is so damn easy, frenzied regen is seriously great. No wonder I love when druid tanks are in my group.
I tank with various classes, monk being the one I struggle with the most, prot warrior I do okay because I tanked back in wrath and it was automatically familiar to me, pally tank is super easy too but nothing like this.
Can’t seem to find my taunt but, not that I need it right now.
Good tank to fall back on when groups are being a pain in the neck. I’ve got 60 shaman, 60 priest, 60 prot warrior, 60 bm monk and 52 prot pally and 51 guardian druid who was actually resto. I think I may have found my new main, see how it goes.
Had to share my excitement. What an awesome experience.

It is Growl and it is on page 1 the Druid class tab in the spell book.
Enjoy your bear.
Guardian can be very overBEARing.

So does this mean I should tank now, or am I to dumb to notice the sarcasm?
Bear is a very easy tank… has been for a while. It can soak a lot of damage and make healers worried though. Some people don’t mind it. Some people hate the simplicity.
I have heard they have very weak magic damage mitigation though and that is what makes them challenging.
That just what I’ve heard, but I’m a silly monk so I don’t know for sure.
Bear tanks mitigate damage via health point pools, moreso than any other tank. This makes them seem like superman in lower tier content, but once you get into higher tiers, not having the defense cooldowns of other classes, and especially things like stagger, makes that spike damage lethal.
There is a reason that Monk tanks are almost always the go to Mythic+ tank, stagger is a huge mechanic for smoothing out spike damage, which is what usually kills people.
Bear tanks are fantastic, right up to the point where they aren’t, and then they really suck.

Theres also a good macro out there to put swipe and thrash on the same button. It’s not 100% optimal, maybe 95% optimal but im sure you can beat any content in the game with it and gives you even less buttons. Its something like…
/castsequence reset=3 Thrash, Swipe, Swipe, Swipe
You can have Thrash on a seperate button in case you really want to use Thrash and the macro isnt cycled back through yet but it would be really rare and usually not even matter.

Enjoy it while it lasts, it hasn’t been good since early legion so it’s nice to see it on top again.
The challenge of Druid tanking used to come from having no strong AoE, and no immunity from crushing blows. This was changed in WotLK, and we’ve been the easiest tank class ever since. (although not necessarily the strongest)

I usually play warlock and or another variation of ranged dps but this expansion I have wanted to try getting more seriously into the tanking role, 1 its a change of pace and something new, and 2. the playstyle is more fulfilling after years of just waiting for a cast bar to fill up has become daunting.
I started this journey with a prot paladin, which I have been enjoying. Recently just finished off a VDH which was actually a lot of fun and next up was the Guardian, trying to find “the one” that I click with to sink more time into learning / hopefully eventually getting semi-not brain dead with.
I have never really played melee in all my time of playing WoW (outside of trying out DK when it was first released and that was about it) so this has been a refreshing experience and greatly look forward to getting this druid leveled after reading this praise.

Honestly, I probably wont be pushing high keys anyway. Maybe a bit of raiding, some mid key 12-15. Just to have a bit of fun, I’m getting old and pushing high content isn’t my focus this expansion.
