Guardian Druid question

Can some expert Bear Tank explain how to generate more Regrowth procs?

If you’re talking about Dream of Cenarius then it appears the more crit you have a higher chance of getting the proc is, so I imagine that you should just stack crit (even though you don’t really want that as Guardian).

I mean, you get it roughly every 20 seconds since it has a 20 second cd.

It’s should be procing pretty well on the 20 second mark if not a second or two after depending on the frequency of incoming attacks.

It’s kind of an ironic interaction that it takes your crit chance. If you stacked crit to play around this mechanic (you shouldn’t) you also gain dodge, which means in theory you’ll actually be getting hit less and then procing the talent less often.

Fun fact about the talent. It’ll proc 20ish seconds after the previous proc, not after you use regrowth. If you get a proc and hold onto it for 15 seconds you should get another proc in about 5-6 seconds.

Holding onto them lets you play around with your own burst healing which is great to help out your healer if they need it. You can toss out a few quick heals to your party members if you don’t need them.

Edit: Bad grammar is bad.

you only need so much crit but, much like a number of builds, the idea is to be taking damage. each time you take non periodic damage, you have a chance to proc DoC if its not already on CD.

ideally, you want to track how long your proc is active.
you can hold a proc from 30 seconds down to 11 seconds. once you are reaching the 10 second mark. burn the regrowth on anyone or yourself so you dont waste the proc. the heal over time is better than nothing.

the reason is, in the 10 seconds counting down you could end up getting the new proc replacing the existing one.

the more hits you are taking the more rolls of the dice you are getting towards a proc so you dont need to go too heavy into crit unless you want it to be more reliable in single target encounters with few direct damage hits.

This is one of those weird interactions:
If you stack crit, thus pushing yourself towards being an evasion tank (which is bad) you decrease your chance of taking melee hits, and thus decrease your chance of proccing regrowth.

But it also increases your chance to proc regrowth by the chance it decreases your chance to proc regrowth.

(IE if you stack enough crit to decrease you chance of getting hit by 10% you are taking 10% fewer hits and also having 10% fewer chances to proc the regrowth… yet you also increase your chance to proc regrowth by 10% from each of those hits you fail to dodge.) I suppose one could spreadsheet this out, but as a mechanic it’s counterintuitive.

So, clearly… this is another one of those well thought out mechanics that guardian druid has this expansion that kind of works despite making no sense whatsoever.

TLDR don’t stack crit. Just make a weakaura to track the proc.

except its negligible. if it was a single coin toss it would eventually be bad. but you take so many hits in the window it can proc, its almost always up when you need it if it wasnt already on its internal proc CD.
