Anyone beat the Time walking mage tower for guardian druid? Im having a hard time on live doing it. seems easier on ptr? Any tips at all.
Nope since the health buff to everything every strat i did on ptr hasnt worked i did it on ptr but have not been able to do it on live
yeah same the wratihs die in one combo on ptr but they dont seem to die on live with the same aoe combo. Seems like boss hits harder also? idk maybe i just suck.
Got to phase 2/Kruul twice so far, the rest were wipes I’m about 13 attempts total, basically logged in and done nothing but spam Mage Tower.
From what I see, the damage from the adds onto the NPCs (Velen, Korvas) is super overtuned (unintended?). If either Drain Life or a few ticks of add AOE go off the encounter instantly ends, super unforgiving
Felt waaay more forgiving during Legion. Other than the NPCs insta-dying to a gentle breeze from the tiny adds, the rest of the encounter seems manageable… hard, but manageable.
Na confirmed for sure the first phase boss hits harder but what was not known was the fact they stealth buffed the health of the adds the first boss and kruul
I logged in briefly to give it a look, but went in largely blind, so was trying to remember the fight as I did it.
didn’t work out so well for me
but, I found that the adds died without too much problem if I moonfired each one of them, then thrashed/swiped when they were gathered. I incap’ed when they started their cast.
I only had time for 2 attempts before I had to go back to work, and I didn’t get into the second phase. the biggest problem I was having was managing the adds, but finding enough time to pop into chicken to get some damage up on the boss.
wtb the legendary that gave us extra range
absolutely cannot let the heal go off or it’s over.
It was difficult when it released, in Legion. It was a cakewalk a tier later when everybody outgeared it with Antorus gear - which is when most people did mage tower and the only thing they remember.
not worth it trying it now , its clearly overtuned , needs to be checked and tuned

I remember the immunity to knockback that Rage of the Sleeper gave as being critical for the highlord fight.
Is there a way to even get that ability now? One of the legendaries or something?

or not get hit by the frontal, I guess

Saw another poster say he just used goblin gliders to counter that mechanic.
I haven’t tried it myself but also probably something like wild charge is a good way to counter a knockback mechanic

Perhaps it is not the tower that is overturned, but the player who is undergeared
Somewhat disagree, there is definitely something “off” about how fast the friendly NPCs (Velen, Korvas) die in this 9.1.5 version…
When I did it back during Legion sometimes my attempts were “sloppy” and I missed a Drain Life kick, the little adds were hitting Velen, I was out of position, etc… and he didn’t INSTANTLY die back then like he does now, he could actually take a few hits when it was properly tuned

The statements “people forgot how hard Mage Tower was on release and only remember how easy it was when they outgeared it after Antorus” and “the current Mage Tower needs a lot of fixes just like the original Mage Tower did when it launched” are not mutually exclusive.
was doable in PTR , it isn’t in live , not sure how can this be possible since blizzard never makes mistakes , their QnA team is flawless and they ALLWAYS listen to feedback from the community .
