Both trinkets you have are great options. If you have the infallible tracking charm, maybe consider using that over the vial. You could also go for basically any on use low cd trinket with aoe capabilities like the mirror from HFC off council. I’ll toss more trinket recommendations at the bottom.
With that said, after looking at your gear you may want to do a few things…
- Get an agi weapon. I found out you can use the artifact bear weapons. It will let you rock both a celestial guidance and a sinful rev enchant and you can double up on shadowcore oil. That’s huge damage right there.
- Enchant your gear. Get skirmish on your chest, stam+leech on the cloak, vers on your rings.
- If you have a prydaz, get that and put a leviathan’s eye in it. Also pop a hidden satyr enchant on it. If not, toss on the heart of azeroth for the stats.
- Pop on the BFA cloak for stats.
- Use heart of azeroth gear for your helm, chest, and shoulders. The stats are amazing.,
- I’d run GG over Incarn personally but both work.
Some trinkets to test or look into that most haven’t commented on:
- Unblinking Gaze from Iskar (HFC)
- Bough of Corruption from Xavius (EN)
- Seed Pod from Nythendra (EN) [mentioned tons, but totally worth it]
- Frond from Botanist (NH)
- Feverish Carapace from Goroth (TOS)
- Specter (either one) from KJ or Desolate Host (TOS)
- Moonglaives from Sisters (TOS)
- Gorschalach’s Legacy from Aggramar (Antorus)
- Riftworld Codex from Portal Keeper (Antorus)
- Shadow-singed Fang from Felhounds (Antorus)
- Seeping Scourgewing from Varimathras (Antorus)
- Prism from Opulence (BODA) [defensive option]
- Idol from Uu’nat (COS)
- Phial from Radiance of Azshara (EP)
- Torment in a Jar from Xanesh (EP)
- Void-twisted Titanshard from Ra-den (EP)
- Endless Tincture of Renewed Combat (from the AH) [defensive trinket]
Other tips:
- Make sure to save berserk for p2, You can burn it on p1 right after the first horror adds spawn and you should be set to have it up again in p2.
- Do whatever you can to push into p2 right after the horrors are killed. If you’re getting a horror spawn, hold pushing Varris until the horrors are handled.
- Burn drums, unbridled, and berserk as soon as p2 starts and just slam him down as hard as you can.
- Stay near the orbs in p2 but not so close that the stomp puddles are going to be on top of them.
- Be liberal with orb usage once you are at the 3rd annihilate.
- Jump over the beams in p2 rather than running through them.
- If you are fighting a slow, beams, and puddles, target a horror and charge to them in p2 if you are worried about being able to get there.
- The eyes from p1 despawn as soon as Kruul comes down so you can ignore eyes and put more damage into Variss when you’re getting him low and close to pushing into p2.
Also know that the change to the horrors makes them more annoying to pick up. When they start their cast, they plant in spot and then move once the cast is over and they are still pulsing damage. This means you need to be quicker picking them up since if you miss one, it’s likely they will b-line to Velen and just insta-gib him.

Stampede, wild charge, dash in cat form (I would incap so you don’t take damage in cat form if you use this), bear tartare works for speed boost and there is another food that does the same, and highmountain can bullrush.
How many phases of the horrors should I have before getting Variss down? I feel like I’m just not able to do enough DPS on him to phase him out. Always spamming moonfire on him if I’ve got nothing else going on.
I’m using Boomkin to start with with the rotation, staying on that until the horrors come out, then it’s bear form from there on except for occasional regrowths.
I’ve gotten to like 4-5 waves of the horrors before I’ll end up dying to too many infernals, eyes, and horrors up at the same time.
My first kill I had either 4 or 5 infernals up (it was pre-nerf) so p1 lasting a long time sucks but it’s manageable.
You can go back to boomy after the first horror adds are down and re-dot and hit a few more starsurges. When you have any downtime (no horrors, and no infernals nearby) you can go back into boomy to blast and dot so you can damage without getting stacks. Just regrowth for some healing after the mind rend casts.
If you want to push p1 faster, you need to get comfortable with pushing stacks to 4-5 for decay and making sure you’re timing it around an interrupt for Drain Life. I would get DBM’s Challenges plugin for the encounter timers so you can plan ahead. Don’t forget you can also use incap (at the edge or the decay aura) or an orb to interrupt if you need it.
FYI, the macro to focus eyes is nice but can also mess you up in p1 with pushing quickly. The eyes despawn as soon as you hit p2 and Kruul comes down, so around the 20% mark on p1 you generally want to just ignore the eyes and just stare at them so you don’t get knocked off when needed instead of sacrificing damage to eyes rather than pumping Variss.

I would emphasize that potion of unbridled fury is probably the most important preparation you can make. I was banging my head against the wall for a while and then finally bit the bullet to prepare some unbridled fury after I had a 4% wipe. Then, I killed it within 4~5 times of getting to p2. It did 9.6k damage to Kruul on my kill.
But, unbridled fury is most likely being sold at a very high price right now. So, unless you have a lot of them, I would say practice without it first. Once you know you can get Kruul down to around 20~30% without it, I would start using it. Good luck!

Shadowcore oil requires a level 51 weapon. Artifact weapons are level 20?

And I’d take Survival because you really shouldn’t be taking much melee damage so Earthwarden isn’t going to save you much, and the increased uptime on Barkskin is amazing
Grizzle already mentioned but your claws should be high enough to use the oil.
Definitely go SotF. Kruul’s melee damage is nothing, it’s only his annihilate, stomps, and the puddles that do damage. It’s better to have bark up more often to deal with the nether horror adds and to be able to throw up a barkskin for annihilate 4 if you’re low or directly after so you can pop frenzy and buy time to get to an orb.
Can confirm, covenant set bonuses still work and honestly the venthyr set healed me a lot passively. I’m also using Codex of the First Technicque to keep actives down along with the ravaged seed pod from Emerald Nightmare. I went from barely getting halfway through first phase to getting to Kruul repeatedly now.

Turns out the base itemlevel of the claws is 20 upgradable via relics.
How do you find that set bonus Faoe set? is it stong?
Not overly no. Although the fae’s it summons does attract the Horrors, so some times when they’re out it makes life simple…but not overly the strongest set at all.
I did find swapping to the Legion Artifact weapon for dual enchants + 2 shadowcore oils helped considerably

I’m struggling with that as well - with 3-4 infernals, and the horrors popping up and trying to avoid puddles and pay attention to Annihilates and my health, I get a little overwhelmed >.< lol
Just keep at it guys, you got it. Just gotta get comfortable with the chaos of the last 10%.
