Guardian Druid FC stats

If I were going to be a Guardian Flag Carrier, aside from vers, what other stat should I focus on?

This site shows a lot of build info for PvP.
Looking at guardian druid, for example, shows Vers → Mast → Haste → Crit.

Get the 4 Set Tier Set without using the tier gloves.

Get a combo of Haste/Ver and Ver/Mastery in every other slot. Once you get to 27~30% Ver go with what’s comfortable. Some people like more Haste some like more Mastery. Depends on your build and playstyle. I like a min of 25% Haste no matter what content I am doing. The more the better (for me). Mastery makes you thicc(er).

A lot of people use the crafted boots with Haste/Ver. Note that some people use Sporecloak even with the nerf. YMMV.

Enchant for Main stat, Stam, Speed and Vers.

Gem for Haste/Vers.

Get a form lock macro not to pull you out of bear if you run DOC. If you have one for Feral you are good.

Keep in mind that you are also taking the talent Lycara’s Teachings in the Class Tree. Always review your stats while in Bear Form. When in bear form you get 6% more Vers compared to 6% more Haste in Caster Form.

I was thinking Vers/Mastery as well for overall solid defenses

Truth be told all stats are good for bear. Ilvl is king but I would not suggest running around in all Crit/Ver gear. Mastery and Haste are equally important to overall solid defenses.

Mastery is a good stat to have and helps when you have to/if you go Boomy. Mastery increases your health pool, increases healing received and increases your attack power.

Haste is a good stat because it helps increase auto attack speed, reduces the GCD and increases dot ticks from Moonfire and Thrash. All of that increases if your Rage Generation. More Rage = more defensive and healing.

So you want to mix your Haste and Mastery into your Vers gear because because it directly increases your tankiness. You are going to get somewhat of a mix of stats from your Tier Set items so try to use the Haste/Vers Gear in the other slots with an occasional Vers/Mastery item in the others. I don’t like to put a figure on this because there isn’t a cap or sweet spot but you should end up with about 15% mastery. That number is not a goal.

I like it when there’s a gray area of optimal stats so players can do some customization towards their preferred playstyle.

I don’t like it when there are 2 bis stats and if you didn’t max them out, you’re playing the game wrong.

It is also important to have a mix of Mastery for the times that you need to go Boomkin. You can use the same setup and just switch your weapon and jewelry (if needed) around.

Im assuming Boomkin and Guardian share the same stats? That will make things easier, gear wise.

Boomkins want Ver/Hast/Mastery as well.

Also keep your ear to the ground because there could be a nice shift in the FC Meta if something goes live today that was not in the patch notes. Crossing my fingers.

Its been DH and Guardian for years. Whats the shift you speak of?

Guardian might be back to S Tier once patch goes live. VDH will still be good (great) but Bear might close the gap or surpass them again. Looking for an undocumented change.

Apparently Bear druid’s Rage of the Sleeper is granting them CC immunity on PTR, but it’s not in the patch notes. Its a 10 second buff with a 1 min cooldown.

Yeah I was avoiding saying that so it didn’t confuse people if it did not make it to live. If it goes live that will be huge for bears again for FC and Basesitting.

So I am being told that the change to Rage of the Sleeper went live. The immunity prevents CC but does not break CC.

I dont see that in the description of the skill though.

It was an old effect in Legion and a similar Legendary effect in SL. It got brought back.

Blizzard and tooltips yada yada yada.

Versatility and Haste are the top 2 priorities. Don’t plan on doing crap for damage, but you can make it across an entire WSG map with 4 DPS beating on you the whole way. lol

Why is haste so important? It significantly reduces your cooldown for Frenzied Regeneration. Crit might make big numbers pop up when you’re doing AOE, but it’s useless for the role you’re playing.

Moonfire EVERYTHING, you have a talent called Elune’s Favored that heals you ever time your moonfire deals damage.

Swipe, Thrash, and Mangle to stack bleed effects on anyone around you. Dump almost all of your rage on stacking up Ironfur, and use Survival Instincts or Barkskin if you are taking heavy damage. Frenzied Regeneration, Renewal, and a free instant cast of Regrowth in bear form every 20 seconds to heal damage.

BUT Guardian is a little frustrating because you aren’t going to be dealing much damage. Other players, especially healers, can stand in one place and laugh at you if you try to target them. If you have a healer following you, you’re probably going to helplessly watch them die because you can’t protect them. After your BG ends, you may need counseling for survivor guilt.

Other good uses for Guardian druids-- You make a great flag spinner to prevent flag caps in AB with Swipe and Thrash.
