I was on another server and saw someone offering 100% rank 3 for only 5k gold. I asked him if he could craft Illimited Rank 3 without insight and he was pretty dodgy about it.
Is it possible without Insight? And if it is, can anyone help me understand how? Thanks.
Glad to be corrected if I’m missing something, but I don’t think it possible to guarantee R3 diamonds without Insight.
My main is a Draenei JC that’s almost maxed. To guarantee an R3 diamond, I need Insight and R3 illimited diamond; otherwise it’s a little over 41% chance to proc R3 with low rank mats. Adding the missing 14 skill points and using R3 mats still puts me under the required 375 difficulty if CraftSim is to be trusted.
Now, there was some talk about Blizzard adding a random skill roll to each craft, something on the order of 10-ish skill points. If true, with the extra 5 points from being a Draenei and an R3 illimited diamond, + 9 or +10 points would put me over the threshold. But since it’s random, it’s not anything I’d ever advertise as any sort of a guarantee. It’s far cheaper to fish for an inspiration proc with low quality mats.

Mettle is so hard to come by that I always run out. Can a work order be submitted with Insight, esp for R3 diamonds? Or does it have to be the crafter’s mettle to use an Insight?

I get why it has to be crafter’s insight, it makes mettle have value (though it’s maybe a little too much, I think it would have been fine at 30 mettle for an insight). The big thing with the gem is that it’s just dumb they can’t be guaranteed rank 3. They can’t be rerolled so it makes the failures that much worse because now the customer is stuck with a worthless gem
Probably using the same bug/exploit that can force rank 3 weapon enchants.
That “might” work if you’re doing your own gems, but diamonds just go straight to the mailbox since its a crafting order.
So its insight or roll the dice.
Oh right, cause they’re BoP.
At maxed out skills you’ll be 14 points off from ever being able to guarantee rank 3… an insight is needed
