Looking to buy a card for my gaming laptop. I only play wow and with that information would a GTX 1660 TI or GTX 2060 be much better for only playing wow? How long will a 1660 for example last for WoW such as med-high graphics.
both prob. be limited by whatever CPU you got in there and will likely have similar WoW experience at 1080p. The 2060 is more capable, though.
i7-10750H will be my CPU.
my i7-4710hq GTX 860M can run wow on around 90-100 fps on medium setting (4-5) so the reasoning to buy a 2060 didn’t really feel right and an i7-10750H + 1660 TI would suffice for years for playing wow.
i’d get the one that feels better physically between the two. Build quality/interfact/screen matters more in this case imo
it’s the same laptop but I have the option for a 1660 or a 2060. The 2060 costs 150$ more and just want to see if there is an argument for it when I mainly play wow
Honestly I’d get the 2060 just because it can do DLSS, which might be something you’ll want if you play other games in the future that can utilize this and the laptop itself starts getting long in the tooth.

Different architecture and a better series. DLSS is a bonus as well. WoW is a CPU intesive game anyway so GPU doesnt need to be massive but it helps

Looks solid, but new gen GPU/Zen3 laptops are around the corner. Maybe if your current system works well enough, wait for those.
that will cost A LOT more though and this is pretty beastly for wow imo

I have no idea how one changes a GPU on a laptop xD but that’s interesting you’re going to do that… I’d get the 2060 if it’s only $150 cheaper. I can’t tell you much cause I know nothing about laptop GPU’s… but 1660 TI sounds kinda dated compoared to 2060, even if you only play WoW I think it’s worth it.

It all depends on Make/Model of of the Laptop.
I’ve seen some benchmarks on laptops where the thermals are so good that sometimes a 1660 TI model laptop performs better than a 2060 laptop. The 2060 usually performs 10-20% better than the 1660 TI.
I have the Legion Y740 w/ 9750H + 1660 TI and I have no problem running that game with 70-144 FPS w/ High-Max settings.

I myself have a 1660 ti and I wouldn’t recommend it now. Granted, there was a time when it was the best 1080p card and that’s why I bought it but that ship has sailed now I believe and there are far better options. Get the 2060.
