GTX 1650 to replace my GT1030 dinosaur

considering buying the 1650 tomorrow after watching this video

It seems to blow my 1030 away.
Anyone with the 1650 with any bad news I should know about ?
thanks in advance

It should work well. I’m running a GTX 1660 Super with all setting maxed and I have no problems.

The GTX 1650 is a super budget card. Get a 3060 with 12GB of VRAM.

I forget what card i had before , it was a 6gb … least get a 6gb

I really only play WoW, dont really need anything more than the 1030 in all honesty.
Just buying a little upgrade for casual WoW playing.

I have one and it works just fine with most settings set to 7.

If I remember correctly you just said on another thread you were purchasing a 1440p ultra wide.

I would not reccomend that card for pushing an ultra wide at 1440p.

I’m running a 2080 super on a 1440p and it struggles a bit with everything on high ( I do have Ray tracing turned off tho ) I get about 60 to 70 fps in open world 30 to 50 in city’s and raids. My buddy has a 3060 and is getting similar numbers.

I would be looking at the Nividia 40 series or the AMD 7900 series if I were you.

the other detail is my power supply is only 300w.
Most of the better cards I looked at require 400 or even 500w.
Definitely want to stick with whats already inside the machine for now.

wow…thats WAAAAAY higher than mine. Way WAY higher lol.
I have to turn all the extras down to very low or off to get really good FPS.
But then. who needs SSAO anyway?

i feel like my 3080 is a dinosaur now.

its good for like 10 more years but still

“Minimum PSU Recommendation 750 W”

ouch. lol.
Maybe when we look at new machines entirely.
Im not even half that power.

Odd, I double checked and that’s the card. I have an i5 and 16gb of ram on an ssd.

There is no issues with the GTX 1650 for WoW. I have 2 of them, they are my favorite card on the market right now. I love 75W cards because they are easy on the waste heat. Even my GTX 1060 made my room too hot after a few hours turned on. GTX 1650 is very impressive WoW performer for 1080p.

I’ve recently been looking to upgrade my RTX 2060 as it’s the only piece of hardware I didn’t upgrade when I built a new rig this year.

I really seems to be holding me back in other games (not in WoW, it’s fine in WoW).

Been considering the AMD Radeon™ RX 6750 XT as it’s on clearance right now. Everything is so darned expensive here (Canada) and this one seems reasonable as an upgrade.

Everything else I’m running is new tech, so my GPU is my real bottleneck at this point.

I think I’ll hold off for a few weeks though as there are supposed to be some new GPU additions soon and I’m hoping it will drive some costs down!

If I could get my settings all on 7 and have it run good Id be a very happy camper.

hopefully they dont sell the 3 they have in stock by the time I get their in the AM tomorrow. lol.
Heat is another concern. I really dont want to have to deal with too much thinking about heat. My real high end gaming days are long over…having to worry about heat is just somewhere I dont want to go again.
The only thing thats concerning me about that card is it says its overclocked.
when I OC’ed my 1030 it was a bit better, but the stability went right out the window.
WoW was locking up all day long till I turned the OC off.
Sounds like you havent had any trouble with that though. ?

I hear ya. The new cards unfortunately require a lot of watts.

I know another poster said he is playing with settings at 7 on the 1650. But he didn’t mention what resolution he is playing at or if he is using an ultra wide. You need to remember 1440p is more pixels to push and ultra wide adds about another 30% pixels to push on top of that versus a non-ultra wide. So I would be careful about that recommendation.

You could possibly find yourself turning things way down to get playable frame rates, which kind of defeats the purpose of upgrading to the 1440 ultra wide.

They just purchased a 1440p ultra wide so the 1650 might not be enough

I just play on a regular monitor, nothing special. Graphics are 1080p. You’ll be just fine. Frame rate gets a little rough in raids so I just turn it down to 5 sometimes, but open world content is all good.
