Growl in dungeons

I’ve always played MM, but since the prepatch I swapped to BM for obvious reasons.
Challenged myself to try and level from 1-60 on another server before the 50% exp buff went down - and I did it! Only took a shameful amount of hours /played.

Anyway, during this levelling I mostly spammed dungeons and timewalking.
As you may know, pet Growl is turned off once you enter a dungeon and sure it did, there were never glowy dots around the skill in my spellbook.
However in many instances, my pet cast Growl inside the dungeon even with the auto-cast off.

Is this a bug? Am I missing something?

There may be a bug where if you ding midway in a dungeon, growl turns itself back on again. Do you remember if you levelled partway through those dungeons?

I don’t remember, since i grinded so many dungeons in a row. But the spell never lit up. The instances of me noticing someting had me check the spellbook and Growl was on cooldown, still unlit as if turned off. Maybe it’s the ding bug, I can’t remember

Yup, I’ve heard of the bug when leveling. Noticed pets grabbing agro as I was grinding dungeons.

Just worked with it as the hunters were likely unaware.

Though I’d expect some unhinged tanks to lose their cookies about it all.

If it’s still happening, just click it on & off again, but will likely persist while leveling.

If you level up in a dungeon, grow’s autocast status gets reset. It doesn’t visually look like it’s reset, but it is. You have to right-click growl to “turn it on” and then right-click it again to actually disable it.

It’s been this way for a rather long time now, and I’m convinced Blizzard just doesn’t really have any actual talented devs anymore. Believe it or not, there was a time when Blizzard was known for highly polished products and user experiences.

As others said, click it ‘on’ then off again to reset it. This only works if Growl is actually being cast.

If your pet is just organically pulling agro though, that is likely due to the new talent designs. Our pets used to make up about 50% of our damage, so it was easy to not pull agro from the tank. Now our pets are doing 70-80% of our damage, so they can pull agro very easily. Especially in packs of mobs where your pet is AoEing faster than the tank.

Oh, a couple tanks did get sensitive about it for sure. I told them it was off and maybe it was a bug and the overall response was “git gud”

Yeah, some can get pretty agro about it, though if a hunter is unaware of the sudden change of status of their growl, it’s really just unavoidable.

Here’s hoping more tanks learn of the bug, and become compassionate of the circumstances
