Group Loot is antiquated, and was removed for a reason

Good thing they updated it then, huh?

rng. I ran lfr 20 times and got 2 pieces of loot. atleast in personal loot i would occasionally get something about once per wing. For casual players group loot can just screw you non stop. I stopped doing lfr because i just assumed i wasnt going to get anything. Imagine when everyone needs something new. I think personal loot in LFR and dungeons is fine. As for a solution. Have LFR and dungeons be personal loot. Have Pugs default to group loot, but if everyone selects Master loot then it becomes master loot. Set it up so that in raid panel you have an icon of which you have selected. This solves guilds wanting masterloot, and prevents pugs from being ninjad. Both systems are already created, so it wouldnt be hard to implement either.

If someone is ALLOWED to roll need on something.
That is BECAUSE it fits their pre-set class, spec, armor type, don’t have already, ect

Claiming someone is a ninja who meets the above criteria is simply wrong.

A ninja is someone who takes something that won’t benefit them at all. Think, a clothie rolling need on plate. The current system doesn’t allow that. It used to though, so I can see where there is confusion.

You simply can’t ninja with this system and it’s NEW limitations.

If you are upset that someone is rolling need for transmog or rolling need on side-grades, that is your entitlement showing, not evidence of a ninja.

This wouldn’t have solved most of the problems people have with group loot. Players will be whispered for every item they receive that someone else wants. If they don’t agree to trade an item they’ll receive just as much vitriol as they do for rolling under GL. In many cases the lack of ability to trade items under certain situations provided cover for players who didn’t want to trade an item.

Yes, GL does include an element of intent that doesn’t exist with PL and that can cause some friction. But any such friction is borne out of one player thinking they should get to decide whether another player deserves a chance at the item. It’s misguided at best and entitled at worst. Take away the irrational reactions to that intent and the system behaves essentially identically to PL on the loot distribution front.
