Why is this not brought up before? GROUNDING TOTEM needs to be baseline period. Having it in the PvP talents doesnt give us choice. Its a must have for PvP. Virtually every class has something you can and need to ground. Not having this removes counter play, player agency, and skill from all 3 shaman specs. This is a totem that MUST be baseline.
Give us player agency and choice in our talents, including PvP talents.
First “make this baseline” thread I’ve wholeheartedly agreed with. It adds unique Shaman utility to PvE, it’s definitely a must take PvP for most situations, and it’s always been a unique staple.
I may be the only one, but I think all of the pvp totems should be baseline. They’re such a great thematic element of the class. Before Primal Primer got neutered, I ran the build that included totem mastery. I loved always having visible totems on screen from a thematic perspective. Not super convenient when heavy movement was required, but still.
I’d love to have totem mastery cosmetic toy, just for fun.
Grounding should be baseline, reflect glyph should be the pvp talent. That would go along with their design philosophy of this expansion in terms of making talents a way to enhance spells that you already have and remember and love. Grounding adds so much to pve and pvp for the shaman. It’s a huge and unique defensive option that only this class thematically would use (except maybe monk with statues, but we originated the idea of putting a stick out on the field that does stuff for you).
Wish I could find the quote, but they purposely took grounding totem away because they were tired of people finding NPC spells that should not be able to be grounded, and having to go back and fix it.
This was mostly in raiding, which was understandable.
It more points to bad testing and not catching it before hand. Or just not copy/pasting whatever line of code you need to make something unable to be effected by grounding totem in the beginning.
I get not wanting grounding totem to ground major raid boss mechanics. Just using that as an excuse felt flimsy at best.
Personally I loathe the pvp talent system. There are pvp talents for EVERY class that would be extremely useful in pve but you can never use them for dungeons or raids because of this broken warmode system.
Get rid of separate pvp talents and make them all baseline or standard talent options
Unlikely they will move it as baseline without nerfing it significantly ( like absorb only 1 spell ) or something like that . I rather it be left as is .
100% Having it back in classic feels amazing. I feel like I’m able to do what shaman are supposed to be able to do, prepare for a fight. Totems were about preemptively setting up for the fight. Without having some, I feel like I’m always at a disadvantage. Removing the CD on frost shock helped Ele, but having all totems back (besides counterstrike) baseline, is what our class is about.
Not to mention, shadowlands is about bringing back flavor, that was the most flavor ability shaman had (aside from sentry totem… miss you buddy).
