There been some more talk recently of people playing the main questline without flying, and blizz has apparently taken interest.
Personally I enjoy flying, but I can see the other point of view - that the world is more engaging when everyone is grounded at the start.
Imagine if a grounded mode existed, with an achievement (with a ground mount reward I guess!)if you complete the whole campaign in that mode. I could see this working with a buff similar to soul of iron, which prevents you from mounting and you get the achievement as long as you don’t remove it.
Or possibly a separate grounded phase, accessed similarly to the Hard Mode phase in Lemix could offer continuing cosmetic and title awards - especially relevant for PvP.
Maybe there is a way to keep flyers and non-flyers happy?

I read all the quest text, I’m already engaged. Not really interested in trucking my butt around for another year, I already do that in classic. But more power to you if you want to be on foot.

For a start, I like flying. Second, my understanding of the no-flying preferrers is that it’s nice when lots of people are engaging in a similar activity.
Why would you have a problem with a non-flying mode existing if you never had to engage with it?
I’m not walking in Haranar. That place is a maze, worse than Zul’Aman
^ This. Why do you want a reward for this? If that’s how you enjoy the game, then you shouldn’t want or need an achievement for this.
They should add unique abilities to ground mounts to make them as engaging as flight is. Definitely more speed, maybe a large jump or even mounted combat (as in the mount can attack), something like that, and also require you to take your mount to town to let it eat/drink as a way to return the resource used for your mount to do these things. A kind of care system, you know? Would be pretty cool imo and definitely make ground mounts more engaging to use regularly.

There already is. Those who like flying can mount and fly and those who really want the experience of only ground mounts can mount up and choose not to fly.
The current system allows a choice between the two. The problem is there are always people who want everyone to only have access to the method they want/think is good. Nothing stops people from playing the game on only ground mounts at the moment.

I think it’s better if they keep it voluntary overall, though maybe they could have areas that are temporarily no-fly zones until you complete a quest that removes whatever it is that’s preventing you from flying in or near that area.
I also think they should have a separate random mount button for ground-mounts only.
I think the reason flyers get spooked when grounders and/or sympathizers(lol), start talking about how great it is…is Pathfinder rearing its ugly head repeatedly. I don’t see grounders needing to worry.

Or they could stop messing with flying and just let us play the way we want.
Your ground mount works just fine without penalizing other players.

You mean the pretend no flying movement that MicroBlizz has made up thinking that a lot of WoD players are gone and Ion didn’t get his way w/no flying?
No, no thanks I’m not interested in it… in fact I didn’t engage with the Goblin area in TWW except the minimum and raids. It is no more immersive on ground mounts than it is with flying mounts.
