On my Shaman, I have noticed that all of my ground-targeting spells are sometimes auto-casting at my mouse location. After extensive testing, I have found the source and how to replicate it 100% of the time:
- Must have Press and Hold Casting in settings enabled
- Cast a spell with a casting bar on your target, like Lighting Bolt (combat state does not matter)
- RIGHT when the spell is about to finish casting, hit the key to cast your ground-targeting spell. The ground-targeted spell will auto-cast wherever your mouse happens to be.
The mouse does not need to be touched at all to replicate. Must be a spell with a casting bar - instant casts do not work.
Turning off Press and Hold Casting completely eliminates the bug.

Still happening and been happening since DF launch. This and many other similar bugs for QoL settings have been extremely frustrating and they either haven’t noticed or are just not bothering to fix them.
Thanks for the input, I do not have Press and Hold Casting turned on however. So this would not be similar to my experience 
I can confirm, turning off that option completely fixed my issue. I’ve been experiencing this for a long time and this finally fixed it. Thanks.
This bug was so annoying to deal with, I originally thought it was my mouse and replaced it. So I addapted to the crap factor and then realized it was just a bug from the press and hold casting feature. I’ll never have it enabled again because it fixed my issue forever.
