Grong's primal rage...is stupid

So normally what I do with use trinkets is macro them to another spell. Has worked perfectly fine with every use trinket i’ve ever come across. Except this thing. For whatever reason, if Grong’s primal rage is on CD, the spell that’s attached to it won’t work. Whereas all my other use trinkets will still allow my spells to fire regardless as to whether they’re on CD or not. I have no idea why this one particular trinket is locking up my spells and therefore behaves differently to all the other use trinkets i’ve come across. But it just refuses to play nice with my macro. What gives with this thing? Is it just bugged?

#showtooltip [spell name]
/use 13
/cast [spell name]
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Doesn’t work for me either most of the time. Had to just make it a button on UI, it is the dumb.

Well considering it locks me down in 1 spot (practically suicide in raids these days), I guess it makes it doubly useless. Probs will just chuck it in the scrapper and go back to using my old trinket that’s actually useful despite it being 40 ilvls lower.

Try altering your macro so that the ability is first, and GPR is second. It may be related to the whole “You cannot move or use abilities during your rage” thing, even if it’s on CD. It’s probably a bad idea to macro it to a DPS CD though, since you can’t do anything for 4 seconds. Probably better to use when you have downtime in your rotation.

It’s a shame the trinket is bad for everyone unless you’re arms Warr or UHDK.

I tried that. But doing it that way doesn’t proc the trinket even when its not on CD. Dunno why.

the trinket is gonna be gated behind the 4 sec cd, I would macro it to something off the global cooldown and put it last… so like your racial or a potion…

it essentially has a 4 second cast time so the way trinkets work they are off gcd ( normally ) but it having a duration means you should treat it like a spell/attack on its own and put it last in your macro and put things off the GCD in front of it.

SO IE

#showtooltip [spell name]
/use battle potion
/cast racial
/cast ascendence
/use 13
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

EDIT: tbh I don’t know your damaging buffs I haven’t touched my shaman this xpac and not much last… But you could bind your feral wolf spirits too it if you are enhance, I think they are off the gcd

I just tested on my pally (haven’t sharded it in case it ever gets buffed). It’s on the GCD, like Maledict. You can’t macro it, so you’ll need to bind it on it’s own if you want to use it.

If you aren’t Arms or UH, don’t bother though.

it’s affected by GCD

The trinket isn’t even great as an Unholy DK. Yes, it’s one of our higher simming trinkets. But it’s incredibly frustrating to use because of the:

piece.

It’s super inefficient, because you will go sometimes for long times especially in some higher end content where it’s available to use, but you just can’t take the risk in using it due to the need to move and shift positions.

It’s really a crappy trinket because of that.

I can’t wait to replace it with something better.

Yeah, it’s a shame when you can’t even give away a 415 ilvl trinket. Last time it dropped:

"Anyone want this?

:cricket::cricket::cricket:

“Well, I guess I’ll hold onto it in case it ever gets buffed.”

It isn’t really worth macroing into your other spells. It is actually a dps loss to use it during your cooldowns, as it doesn’t stack with anything and effectively just wastes 4 seconds where you could be getting value elsewhere.

Basically just make it a separate button and use when you have rotational downtime. And replace it when you get any other trinket, because it’s hot garbage.

It’s really a junk trinket. It’s on use effect is basically just filler for when you are resource starved.
