Grinding racial rep

I vaguely remember from vanilla that to get another race’s mounts you had to reach exalted status with their city. I never bothered with the grind on my nelf druid because i already liked the cat mounts, but i know a lot of alliance players were trying to get those.

My question is: how difficult would it be for a troll character to grind exalted with orgrimmar for the dire wolf mounts?

Not difficult but it is somewhat time consuming. Usually the best thing you can do is complete all the quests that give Orgrimmar rep. After you run out of quests, you just need to farm cloth and turn it in for rep. You can get it pretty quickly if you happen to have enough gold to just buy all the cloth you need.

Edit: Once the honor system comes out, you can also grind to rank 11 to get the pvp mounts for each faction. They don’t require exalted rep.

I don’t think any of those sort of grinds are difficult, just time consuming, tedious, repetitious.

My first epic mount on this human was a cat.
I just did every quest in the night elf zones i could find, which was a pain since low level quest tracking wasn’t a thing then. If you where being smart about it you could just run there and level with it instead of the humans zones.

Finished it off with cloth turns ins during the AQ lead up events.

Since trolls and orcs share the same starter area, you’ll be getting rep with the orcs anyways. You’ll probably have to utilize spillover rep and cloth turn ins however.

Org is easy as most of your quests are Org, TB, or Forsaken. Just focus the areas you want while low level to ensure you get as much rep as possible from quests. (you can also grind the repeatable quest follow-up to Chen’s Empty Keg as that also gives Org rep. TB has Morrowgrain. Undead don’t have any repeatables aside the cloth turn-in, but they have enough quests you might be able to hit exalted via spillover if you arrange your questing properly to ensure you have a quest to break the next tier of reputation (spillover can’t push you to the next tier))

Trolls have the fewest quests of the horde side, though IMO they’re a bit better off than Gnomes are who outside of the 1-10 area and gnomer quests they have almost none (but you only need it if you’re a dwarf since NE and Human can’t use Mechstriders).

Forsaken are a bit little bit gimp’d since they start at neutral instead of friendly (and vice-versa if you want a Deathcharger on a Troll/Orc)

I’m pretty sure there is reputation diminishing returns (as much as 90% reputation loss) if the quest you are doing is grey. That means you want to do the quests while they are still green+ to maximize your reputation gain.

It’s easy to get exalted with Orgrimmar. Darkspear Trolls are much more difficult as there are less quests.

When cloth turn-ins become available, you’ll have an extra source of reputation.

well, good to hear that a troll should be able to get rep with orgrimmar pretty easily.
