Grind spots for skinning and mining

Hi all,
I’ve found quite a few good lists/guides on grind spots and places to level, but I’m trying to put together a list that focuses specifically on areas that are good for skinning and mining. So far I have:

  • Yeti cave in Dun Morough (Skinning and Mining)
  • Coyote/Prowler ‘dens’ throughout Elwynn Forest (Skinning and light Mining)
  • Crocolisks in Loch Modan (Skinning only)
  • Raptor Ridge in Wetlands (Skinning and Mining)
  • Worgen mine in Duskwood (Skinning and Mining)

Does anyone have any other good spots that work well with both gathering professions? I’m trying to focus on less contested areas but will add any good spots to my list.

Ungoro Crater is amazing for both and Elemental Fire as well. The volcano in the middle is a good swing through on your farming route for Elemental Fire and several Rich Thorium veins are there.

The Winterspring Yeti cave then the Winterfall Timbermaw village is a good spot for Firewater to AH in addition to several Rich Thorium and Skinning Yeti.

For skinning all you need is Yeti

Dun Morogh: Yeti, mining
Hillsbrad Cave: Yeti, mining
Alterac Mountains: Yeti, wintersbite
Feralas: Yeti, mining
WIntersrping: Yeti, mining

Only real question is how to get from Dun Morogh Yeti to Hillsbrad Cave Yeti. I’d suggest Ashenvale. Whole zone is beasts basically. Wetlands or Barrens would also work.

As far as actually making money skinning this late in the cycle when devilsaurs have lost most of their value? Get finkles skinner and skin core hounds in MC or bat leather in ZG.

Good point! I didn’t realize there were that many yeti caves, but definitely good to know.

Arathi is skinning heaven, right around the two towns.

I’ll have to check Arathi out. I’ve always avoided the zone as it tends to be pretty contested, but maybe I should give it a shot. I’m sure I could find a corner of it that isn’t overrun with PVP.

Run around Refuge Pointe. Dinos everywhere and you can just grind several levels out in safety due to the Arathi guards being RIGHT THERE.

For Horde only – the Fairy Dragons just west of Camp Mojache in Feralas. They drop silver and are skinnable. The only ability the Fairy Dragons have is a Mana Burn. There are also some wolves in the same area as the Fairy Dragon and there is a Grimtotem Tauren camp, for silver and mageweave cloth. No mining, though.

In other news bot farmers are looking for bot farming locations.

Bot farmers don’t need to ask on the forums for locations lol. Delusion has gotten the better of you, might be time to take a break.

Why would you seek out less contested and then turn around and actively advertise them?

I can’t imagine most people are going to gear their PVP around my single forum post on the subject. If this were Eve, sure, but in my experience most people aren’t out searching for the lone hunter farming skins and ore deep in a cave.

My point is, why if someone has a favorite out of the way farming spot, why would they advertise it publicly?

Well, think about it.

I mean… fair point I guess but I’m not forcing them to share secret locations if they have them? Just trying to put together a list for people trying to level and profit off their professions at the same time. Seemed harmless enough.

Mid teens to 20s: Beren’s Peril in Silverpine Forest.

Early 30s: Shimmering Flats. Iron/Gold around the edges and in the basilisk pit.

Late 30s, Alterac Mountains Yet is.

Lethlor Revine in the Badlands and Crystalvein Mine in STV for early 40s.

For 60, my favorite grind spot is Terror Wing Path in Burning Steppes. The dragonkin drop coin along with lots of trash greens and greys. I’ve even gotten two epics.

Ashenvale is not between Dun Morogh and Hillsbrad. Wrong continent! And Hillsbrad yetis are level 30-31, so you can’t farm them at 15. Oh, you are suggesting farming beasts in Ashenvale, at the levels in between. That’s a good suggestion.

Note that there is an over-the-mountain shortcut for Alliance to get from Dun Morogh to Wetlands, while avoiding the long run. Go west on the road from Ironforge. At the large fallen tree (near the end), go north up over the mountains. You can get as far as the Wetlands zone (downhill). Die there and rez in Menethil. Then you can get the flight path.

Basilisk cave in the middle of STV. Basilisks are always a good money grind, plus leather, plus cave. I’ve haven’t actually leveled mining in years so I can’t confirm that it’s got mining nodes, but I assume it does.

But I don’t care to give my locations for PvP server based leather farming…because I will never play on a PvP server again unless forced.

So for my farming, I go around any settlement with guards. If PvP starts, I run to the guards. It isn’t really rocket science and the only time I ever got killed was when I strayed too far from the guards.
