Grimoire of the Shadowlands summary SPOILERS

Again this is where my own theological study and background fills in the gaps WoW leaves a mystery.

I was reluctant to “put myself out there” with this knowing that I have zero credibility within this forum but myth and religion is my academic passion and it’s good when I can put it to good use. I guess that comes at the disadvantage of looking crazy or “reading into it too much”

The Earthmother isn’t just the planet Azeroth. That’s globally accepted “fan canon” because it’s the most basic answer.

But Eyes of the Earthmother confirms Azeroth isn’t a Titan or a planet. She formed reality out of nothing, she existed before all the cosmic powers. The only thing older than her is The Old Gods or “Old Ones”…which lends itself to Lovecraftian interpretation that Azeroth and the Earthmother is/was an Old One and chose to break away from them, again Azeroth is Azathoth they are one and the same being. Titan creation seems way newer, Titans only believe they were the first things to form in the universe because Aman’thul woke up and all he saw in the Great Dark Beyond was himself so he thought he was “God.” In this sense the Titan PoV is flawed because they wrongly think they were the first Gods in the Universe but Aman’thul was just the Demiuge for a bit until he formed the Titan pantheon of Order.

This isn’t going to happen friend because the writers lack the confidence to write Purely POC Coded Races as cosmologically significant

Read my whole comment “Baal” Great goat of Babylon.

Its a cool idea but I just don’t believe they’d make Tauren the central fulcrum cosmic race.

(Which, “cosmic race” lol loaded IRL term)

Wouldn’t it be a statement though if they did.

I still think this ties into the Tauren being “the heart and soul of the Horde”

thats not true…the broker talked about the green dragonflight’s affinity to nature and the emerald dream is noteworthy hence why Ysera was sent to Ardenweald. Not anything about being unique to Azeroth.

Ta’lora says that Azeroth has things called dragons.

Evidently they did not encounter dragons anywhere else.

Their framing is dragons are Azerothian.

Brokers don’t know much about anything outside of the Shadowlands as they think they already know it all. They show their disdain for the living in every page in the book…I would know…I have it.

… I literally typed out the summary of the whole text do you think I don’t?

And the broker expressed familiarity with other worlds too

still with bitter disdain…

i don´t think so.

The earthmother is most likely a sleeping first one, yes, and in the end, the tauren will get this special treatment, no other race will have a first one as their main deity, but i don´t think that blizzard have only take inspiration in this case from lovecraft.

and btw…the goat…is Y’Shaarj.

Yes but we are talking about the presence of dragons lol

Y’saaj isn’t the goat.

Y’saaj is dead. Like dead dead.
He’s probably the only Old God on Azeroth canonically dead. And if you don’t think WoW is a homage to Lovecraft. I’m sorry but your perception of lore is very limited.

Where did Mueh’zala and Bwomsandi come from? My theory, based on comparative mythology and Warcraft lore: Mueh’zala was a wild god, from which trolls evolved, combined with the myth that the first human who died becomes the lord of death=troll death loa. Bwomsandi could have been his twin (various human creation myths) or a culture hero who ascended to loa level for his great deeds (Herakles, Nanabozho).

we know the old gods end in the realm of the void …and are not dead, thats the reason the black goat with the seven head (y’shaarj) looks from outside the borders of reality inside the reality.

Is that what you know? That’s not what we all know.

I know something different.

Azathoth looks from the outside into reality. You really should get to know the Lovecraftian Old Gods. Azathoth is the only “Outer God” and dreamed up our reality.

Like seriously there’s an entire occult/athiest religion centered on this. And the toy you find in the Sepulcher in Maldraxxus is named after the Necronomicon, it’s spelled out for you in the lore and hints in Shadowlands.

In the Ardenweald play Azeroth is mistakenly called “Azathoth” as an oopsie whoops almost spoiled the whole thing.

Open your eyes.

my point is…we know for an fact who the black goat is…its y’Shaarj…her other name was the black goat…even chronicles told us that…and the earth mother is…most likely an…titanlooking being…with flowers and leave like in the taurenmyth picture…

i mean, is pretty boring for first ones to look titanlike aswell but it will most likely the case…

No it doesn’t.

There’s nothing that tells us that in Chronicle. It’s just community speculation accepted as fact by people with a limited grasp of the subject.

  • Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside.

Y’Shaarj was also known as “the seven headed one” or the beast of seven heads.

“limited grasp of the subject” don´t make me laugh, pls, your speculation is…absolutly Ridiculous and why would the Earth Mother be a goat, explain that, we already saw her in legends of the Tauren as a picture, even if it is only her imagination, graphic visual effects are usually used for a fact then later to confirm the familiarity with the symbol you described before.

and i know lovecraft, i know even blizzard take alot from it…but not everything.

You are tapping into just a small part of the lore. Good job! The 7 deadly sins =7 Sha and how Y’shaaj is a take on Diablo… that’s as far as Y’shaaj gets sorry.

Azeroth is Azathoth. End of story.
