It seemed fine to me… the boss that summons lava elementals kind of needs to kill people easier who let the adds reach them though.
i dreaded the day that they might at Grim Batol as a M+
and now that day has come
My issues with the last fight were 1. the run back, is there not a shortcut? There are some insane runs in there. 2. He knocks back almost exactly as the adds are coming in.
Can the group stack so it makes gathering adds easier? Or is the knockback a frontal cone? Just trying to maneuver while adds are coming in from 3 directions chasing 2 different dps and a healer and have that knockback hit with a room full of tendrils was a nightmare.
Or is there another way to play that specific mechanic? Outside of that it didn’t feel too bad.
I’ve found all the non-TWW dungeons to be quite easy actually.
Grim Batol is harder than the SL dungeons, but no where near as hard the original mechanics of Grim Batol.
I ran it on “0” this week and outside of some odds pulls where basically everything up to the next boss suddenly rushed us, it seems to be “ok”. I had never done the instance back in Cata but I really didn’t notice any mechanics that seemed that out of line.
I just hate all the damn CC and “floor is lava” junk interrupting my setup.
I can deal with it, but that doesn’t mean I’m having fun doing it, just like I never had fun eating a landslide of CC in PvP because that’s how that game is played.
About the only fun thing I experienced was eating one of the swirlies on the packs before last boss and shouting “THE MADNESS” as my character chundered forth to slap my teammates with her wet noodle of a sword.
First run through was a nostalgia trip. Made me miss quite a few people.
Absolutely agree with this post. This boss is a nightmare especially for the tank and should be nerfed or at least get rid of the stupid stuns.
The last boss has been changed a great deal. Much harder than the old Cata one. So not necessarily a skill issue IMO.
Some classes have ability to clear tentacles, so long as they have some kind of cc immunity. (DK can use AMS or IBF and stomp on a bunch for instance)
Cloak of shadows also works to clear
Lots of people here clearly dont realize the mythic version today isn’t the same as the OG.
im 100% sure they are gonna nerf a lot of the dungeons once they get the player analytics in on m+. majority of the player base are gonna hit a wall next week too and end up quitting.
so much of the content right now is insanely overtuned. idk even who they are designing some of this stuff for anymore
It was one of the best ones, people were just bad at it.

Don’t they have new or redesigned mechanics for mythic+ now? I don’t recall the last boss of Grim Batol having any kind of tentacle adds back in the day. People who say “dungeon has been out for 14 years lol, it’s not hard” aren’t being entirely honest.
Just a poorly made dungeon, not much of a discussion needed.

Not really, people just suck at the final boss.
First couple of pulls might be rough, but the dungeon is largely a cakewalk.
If anything CoT IS the actual worst.
Yeah, I also hate grim batol for how it reeks of lazy ctrl c v culture, instead of an actual rework. They changed up some mechanics to make it doable in m+, but thats all. Its still a legacy dungeon quality-wise and feels really odd after a TWW dungeon.
I did my m10 there for the achi and I am gonna continue avoiding it going forward as well, because I dont enjoy it at all (at this point I am only willing to do TWW dungeons + Siege rarely, but grim batol was on my blacklist on day 1).
[which is pretty sad, considering my balancium would need a ring from there, but it is what it is; may the wonder vault drop it, else I’ll never have it]
Regarding the last boss:
Its a horrible accessibility disaster as it is. We could put that boss on a month of diet and the encounter would be already much better.
Its immense size adds so much visual clutter, that it indeed is a pita to play with those n+1 tentacles which are almost always carefully shrouded by the boss’ model.
Either the boss’ size should have been reduced majorly to fit its environment, or everything else magnified, with the exception of the boss.
