I like to run war mode on both low level and high level toons. However, lately I can’t run war mode when leveling a low level toon because of griefers. You are forced out because you can’t complete quests or go through a zone with out being killed.
I don’t mind being killed randomly by a high level player here and there. It is being camped to where I have to either logout or wait 3 minutes to hurry and turn off war mode. The NPC guards are not strong enough to balance the fighting in low level towns like Darkshire. This is not just a horde or alliance issue.
I hope blizzard does something to start deterring player greifing so war mode can be played by all level players not just high level players.
Back in the day there was something that stopped players from doing this, higher levels would show up to defend. Many players don’t care anymore as well lack of ability to communicate or even get in the same shard makes it even more painful to defend locations.
why even bother with warmode? the time you spend at the gy eats up that 10% xp bonus anyways, all I know is killing off the pvp servers did not stop the complaints of being ganked at all.
I always use warmode and I only die a couple times while leveling if that. Sometimes I get to 120 without any pvp happening and I level strictly via questing, no instances.
I’ve level’d over 12 characters to 120 this expansion using Warmode on all of them.
I can only assume the OP simply resurrects everytime he’s kill and continues to quest pretending there isn’t a griefer flying above him.
It’s basic WPVP knowledge, if you are getting camped then move to a new zone. Or move to a new area.
Either that or the OP is having a fit because he’s being camped by one dedicated griefer. Either way, he’s heavily exaggerating the camp factor. I rarely ever get camped, hell some of my chars make it all the way to 120 without dying once.
Sorry but what day was this? I still see high levels show up today and I still remember camping lowbies back in 2005 and no body would ever come to help them.
It’s always been the same, usually depends on who’s behind the high character or the lowbie.
I recall when Stranglethorn Vale was called Ganklethorn Vale.
I don’t like that the OP is frustrated, but them’s the breaks.
I think things were better when we didn’t have sharding and we have world defense. Folks could see what and where things were going down.
Ironically, with all the “connected realms” things feel more isolated, well, at least this particular thing: with no world defense channel connecting all zones.
However, I still recall getting punished as a leveling paladin on Fair and no one would come save my sorry hide. Oh well! No biggie.
Sure, but as a counter argument I can say people don’t come to defend lowbies as much because they have much more stuff to do than before.
Back in classic I literally spent 90% of my end game dueling outside of Ironforge, there wasn’t anything to do so of course I was more compelled to join random pvp frays.
And I think that’s a good and valid argument. No debate on my part. Though I do miss having world defense, I know why it can’t exist.
The other aspect, too, is that high levels really don’t need to come to their defense. The lowbies can simply turn off warmode - or attempt to, if they can get to a rested area. So, for a high level to intervene feels hollow because the intervention can be trumped simply by the ganked lowbie opting out of warmode, OR the offending ganker can opt-out, too.
No one is coming to help you. You can simply turn WM off now.
You are completely 100% putting yourself into that situation and literally have no leg to stand on for complaining.
On PvP servers it made sense to get irate, but then again you had guilds that would come help and so forth.
So, as someone who played primarily on PvP servers I find your complaint to be utterly asinine. You have to voluntarily put yourself into harm’s way. No one can come grief you unless you say you are willing to accept it.
It may not seem ideal or optimal, but i think it’s a vastly superior solution to “accidentally” rolling on a PvP server and/or the faction balance changes dramatic a few expansions in, and you are kinda screwed.
