Green Fire

At this point of the game, they either need to make the drop rate for the tome much higher or just let us talk to X npc to begin the quest. Farming the rares is extremely tedious and there only ever seems to be one person on my server selling the tome for 300k+. I’m a fairly casual player and I can’t really afford it.

Personally, I think green fire should be standard for a warlock anyways. Apologies if this has been talked about to death in the past. This is my first warlock and I was just amazed at how obnoxious getting green fire was.

Honestly, and not trying to step on your toes, but I actually would rather the Green Fire quest to be removed at this point (similar to the hidden artifact appearances of Legion). As in, whoever got it, got it, and that’s it… I think it’d make us feel more special for having the Green Harvest thing. That wouldn’t be the first unobtainable.

I’d rather they just incorporated it into the base abilities like the warlock mounts. I remember helping one of my guild members back when you had to quest for those. Although if they wanted to make green fire unobtainable they should give some notice first.

Fine with others putting in the effort to find/unlock green fire… wouldn’t want to deny them that. (and wish it affected more spells than Destro, Burning Rush and Warlock Steeds.)

The ‘did it when it was still hard’ title “… of the Black Harvest” is special enough and no longer available, which seems appropriate.

Those of us who have the title got our exclusive little thing, and I’m fine with that. What with Affliction being so much the go to spec for the last couple of years, some of us have forgotten how iconic Green Fire was for a destro lock. I wouldn’t want to deny this quest to anyone, new or old who wants to play a Warlock.

300k is far too much for a new player who started in BFA where gold-making can barely keep pace with repair bills depending on playstyle. I’d like to see this moved to an NPC for new players. A Class Quest really should be about completing the content, not paying to start it. And in its currently nerfed state, the fight isn’t really what it was and is not worth that kind of gold.

That said, it is a cool fight and I encourage you to do it just for the experience. It is really part of what Warlock was, and still is in the game. I suggest farming the tome yourself – it drops really fast if you are grouped up in my experience. I farmed it solo and it was slow. Once I joined a group to help a friend get it, it dropped really quickly.

I’m with Jops on this one, the ones who did it when it was relevant/challenging content got their title; having green fire in and of itself isn’t much of an achievement now. Moreover, arbitrarily cutting off access to something that isn’t much of an achievement now wouldn’t make it any more so, it just means you either farmed trivial content or paid 300k for a cosmetic change (if you don’t also have the title).

Also, the Mage Tower appearances (you said hidden, but those are still around, I am assuming you mistyped) aren’t a fair comparison imo; the only cosmetic/visible thing you got from them was the Artifact skin, the only thing you can show that says you did it when it was relevant, whereas with the Green Fire quest there was both the fire itself and the title, the latter being the exclusive thing to flash as your achievement. These aren’t really equivalent examples.

I hear you guys. Respectfully, please allow me to disagree. Lore wise the quest itself looks weird nowadays, and absolutely trivial to do. They could introduce a new set of quests leading to the same outcome but updated to the current setting, or balance the challenge to scale, I don’t know - but all in all I feel it should be removed and made exclusive to whoever already got it.

Regardless, I still feel it’s comparable to the artifact appearances from Legion, the Feats of Strength or other unobtainable items nowadays.

It was like 10k on my server when I bought it like a 6 months ago.

I am super curious about what you mean by this.

Could you elaborate on this? I genuinely don’t understand how you think this is comparable.

The fire wasn’t really the prestigious part of the questline and it never was (I believe it was known that the title was going away but not the questline), it was the title. As a result, I feel like you’re just trying to arbitrarily attach some prestige to it (and incredibly insignificant prestige since it boils down to “I was playing while it was available”) to something that never had it for no reason other than “I want to feel more special for having this”.

Definitely depends on your server; on Jubei the tome is incredibly expensive, but I’d imagine it would be far cheaper on more populated servers.

I have my Black Harvest title, good enough for me. Don’t know how I feel on the book drop. I got my drop very early on in when it was released so I don’t know how bad of a farm it was, or how lucky my drop was. On one hand, the book is the only actual real work you need to do for it anymore, as the questline is mostly just travelling till you reach Black Temple and the fight itself is impossible at an appropriate level due to skill pruning and trivial at a higher level. On the other hand the lore from it is great, the Black Harvest is a tribute to the guys that made Lock great in MoP, and green fire is quite iconic and nice to have.

So… while I think the quest certainly should not be removed, I’m undecided on if the book drop should be changed or not.

I mean, we get the Black Harvest title. I think that’s good enough for an exclusive. I was never a big fan of having things being taken away, but everyone is going to differ when it comes to their opinion on the matter.

I hope green fire stays and I also hope that more classes get fairly difficult quest lines for their own unique aesthetics. We need more of this kind of thing.

I would be fine with a challenging quest line for green fire. However, just to start the quest you have to get a tome from farming rares in a zone where you can’t even fly. They aren’t difficult to kill, it’s just tedious and boring. Especially when you’re competing with other people for the rare spawns.

Aye, this is a CRZ problem as well now.

I farmed that stupid tome for about two weeks. Spent tons of gold on potions, got to Ebonlocke, wiped for 3 or 4 days, and quit playing. It was the end of MoP, and I was burned to a crisp. Now, I go back to get green fire, and realize I missed out on the Title. It makes sense. I was surprised I could still get green fire, so I should be happy about that, but missing out on that title hurt my heart. Good for those that completed it, cause it was F’ing BRUTAL!!

I’ve seen several drop on the same day, immediately after each other, i bank the first one, maybe it’s a bug, I dunno.

yea no. I wouldn’t want new players to be robbed of a cosmetic theme just for me to feel like a special snow flake with green fire. Nothing in the game should be that way. Rare? sure. Something to earn? sure. But not removed.

I have the Black Harvest title, and I think that the title no longer being available is perfect. That is exclusive to those who completed it when it was current, and at that level of difficulty. IMHO, there is no reason to remove the means to get the green fel fire. The quest is already there and new players or those new to the class can (and should) be able to see it. I don’t think it needs to be made simpler or easier to obtain it now, it was always rare, that is what makes it special. I vote for keeping it as is…

If you can find a way I’d give you one for 50k.

As it should be, those of us who put in the time to farm the gold or to farm the mobs got what we earned. Why should you get an easier path after so many years?
