Green Dragonscale Armor

I couldn’t really find a better place to put this, so I apologize in advance if this is a bad place.

So, I’m looking at this green dragon scale armor set. As a restoration healer, it looks amazing, and I was thinking about getting it for my 47-51 upgrades.

However, I figured I might look before I leap so to speak, the 61 spirit, 3mp5 and 15% while casting mana regen seems amazing, but the lack of intellegence is very apparent.

Is this three peice set as good as it looks for a Restoration shaman? Or has anyone whoses tried it found it lacking in results despite how nice it looks on paper?

It’s very good for a resto shaman at the appropriate level. It’s still valuable at 60 until you can get a lot of the dungeon and raid gear to upgrade past it.

The biggest challenge is getting the recipes and materials (or investing the gold to get someone else to do that) while it’s still level-appropriate.

as I am an alchemist instead of a leatherworker, exactly how difficult / expensive is the set? I figured since it’s a high 40’s low 50’s set it isn’t -that- difficult to get ahold of right?

You can get cheaper upgrades in the meantime and grab dungeon pieces. You won’t get the 15% mana regeneration while casting, though.

The pattern for Green Dragonscale Breastplate can be purchased from a vendor after a bit of camping. The pattern for Green Dragonscale Gloves can be learned by a dragonscale trainer at 280 LW. The pattern for Green Dragonscale Leggings is a rare drop from a Sunken Temple mob, which I haven’t seen yet myself.

Combined, the set requires 80 Green Dragonscales and a variety of leather. I’ve run ST five or six times as the sole skinner most of the times, and have 43 green dragonscales. The exact gold value of this will vary based on your server, but it’s not going to be easy.

Its level requirement is in the low 50’s area, but full dragonscale sets are introductory pre-dungeon gear for level 60’s (or close to it). If you get it, it will last you until level 60, and a bit beyond.

It’s skippable depending on the economy on your server. Requires a lot of mats to create that aren’t that easily farmable unless you’ve got a large server. I never saw many scales or pieces on the AH for any of the dragonscale sets. A big downfall is you need to have all the pieces to keep the set bonus. Once you start running BRD and even ST you’ll find some decent upgrades that you’ll want to pass up to keep your set bonus. I’d hold out unless you are really keen on getting it. Ghostweave vest and belt are some good early MP5 gear but again on my server these are scarce.

I’m on a supposedly High Population Server (It’s the only RP server that isn’t RP-PVP, so I imagine that’s why it’s populated)

I’m mostly eyeing it, because I’m not really having issues healing people, I’m having minor issues with mana management on much longer fights (To be fair, we really shouldn’t be trying to kill the last boss of ULdaman with a level 40-43 team, but we’re stubborn darn it.)

100 spirit = 35 mana per tick (2 seconds)
15% from set bonus during combat = 5.25 mana per tick
Even over a 2 minute fight you’d only regen 315 mana from the spirit and another 72 from MP5 on the gear.
You’d get the same amount of mana from 25 intellect which on these slots would be more than reasonable to get.

Mmm, well that’s mildly disappointing, I’ve been trying to figure out a good way to get mana back consistently, Mana spring is nice, but it doesn’t quite keep me going forever, and mana tide is amazing, but a 5 minute cool down is long.
