Greater Invisibility does not work as per spell description

Here is the description of the spell:
Greater Invisibility
Makes you invisible and untargetable for 20 sec. removing all threat. Any action taken cancels this effect. You take 60% reduced damage while invisible and for 3 sec after reappearing.

In actuality, any kind of AOE that happens where you are will make you visible again, which then means the “60% reduced damage while invisible…” is kind of pointless since it makes you visible again.

It’s not pointless, it’s a mini wall in pvp. It does have use, beyond the opener.

60% reduced dmg while your healer is CC’d can be the difference between winning and losing a match. Granted, in a faster meta, rarely will you have it off CD if you use it to open, but it does have use.

Also has uses for prog fights or high m+ too.

No, the description does not indicate that you will be rendered visible if you take damage, it does state you will take 60% less damage while invisible, which would indicate that damage will not cancel the spell effect.

So either the spell does not work as intended or the description is incorrect.

It doesn’t make you immune to damage, I’m not sure why you think that.

Just because you take 40% damage from frost nova doesn’t mean you still don’t take damage. The tooltip accurately reflects what it does. Could be worded better, sure, but it’s not incorrect.

Taking damage is an action taken, just not a voluntary one.

Taking damage = any action taken

Merriam-Webster Dictionary
take action
Definition: to do something : to act in order to get a particular result
Example: The committee is ready to take action.

In order to “take action” you have to do something. If something is done to you, the other person “took action”, not you.

And typically, when damage cancels an ability, blizzard clearly states that damage may cancel the effect (such as with fear):
Fear: Strikes fear in the enemy, disorienting for 20 sec. Damage may cancel the effect. Limit 1.

It works like stealth. If you take any damage you’ll be taken out. Nothing new, nothing will change, and it needs to stay like that or it’s broke as hell.

Yeah, OP, you are alone on this one. It’s working exactly as intended.

Also Stealth tooltip for you: “Conceals you in the shadows until cancelled, allowing you to stalk enemies without being seen.”

Damage removes stealth even if it’s not explicitly called out. If you needed everything spelled out in a tooltip, we’d have paragraphs instead of short tips on what the ability does.

Frostbolt deals x damage, and snares the enemy by 40%*

  • except when target is immune

  • except when target resists

  • except when target has abilities that keep them at 100%

  • except when target cannot be snared

  • except when talenting into modifiers

  • plus 50 other things

So yeah, gotta use your noggin a little bit.

Tooltips also need to be short and to the point because in other languages they can be a lot longer and larger to get the point across. There was a article not long ago of how they do tooltips and how they need to consider every language and make tooltips to the point.
