I can buy some ‘Wild Hunter’s Stew’ from a vendor in Ardenweald that provides 30k HP in 20 seconds. It would be cool if the cooking profession offered food that was better than what you can get at a vendor, while vendor’s food would be still very useful. Fore example, you could still buy food at a vendor that offered 30k HP in 20 seconds, but you would be able to make food with the ‘cooking’ profession that offered 40k or 50k or more HP in 20 seconds.
Greater food buffs would be nice also. Fore example, food that increased lvl 60 stats by 2% or 3% instead of 1% or less than 1%. Or food that increased your mana regen rate or you HP regen rate. Food that cures poison and diseases and curses and magical effects would be great too. I think it would make the cooking profession more useful and PvE more enjoyable and worthwhile.
Food that you cook gives you stat buffs. Food sold at vendors does not.
That wasn’t what he was asking.
You have to remember that blizzard balances cooking around the pandaren racial bonus that gives us double food buff. So if another player got 3%, we would get 6% and players might complain.
However, I still think we need stronger food recipes. It’s bizzare that the BFA fragrant kakavia gives more stamina than shadowlands food.
They could debuff and/or alter the Pandaren food buff, though. For example, grant only a 30% increase, double the duration of food buffs and make food buffs persist through death. It’s fine the way it is. I just don’t see much of a point to some of the recipes if you could just buy food from a vendor for 5 gold that would give you the same item. I guess it’s good for when your running low on gold or something like that.
