See I lean more towards agreeing with this. I don’t know that the worms were designed to force ppl to the ground. Ppl can assume the reason but no one knows for sure.
They could have designed the worm better. But I haven’t seen anyone in game so hindered by it that they chose to use ground mounts.
Instead I see it as a poorly designed step toward making aerial mobs more of something you have to be mindful of versus just ignore it on the way to your quest. But that’s just me.

I’ve gotten it from sitting on the slightly raised ground behind where the Uldum world boss spawns while mounted. I’ve gotten it on the plateau where one of the assault final bosses spawns, too. And from flying up to one of the floating platforms where a rare in the Vale spawns.
Given that half of Uldum is on plateaus right around the worm’s affect range, I wonder how many people would still claim the worms aren’t a problem if they affected ground mounts as well as flying mounts.

actually I cant understand why they don’t after all if Blizzard isn’t trying to simply make flying problematic so why wont they make the zone cause an issue for ground mounts by slowing them down as well?
but then that would mean they actually care about listening to the players and we all know they DONT its not about what the players want its all about THEM and their company decisions
Blizzard hasn’t cared about the feedback of its players in a long time and this is just the next example of how out of touch they are

The nice thing about enemy camps having actual defenses - aside from the simple logic of having ranged defenses in a world with flying enemies - is that they’re on the ground, which is where my attention is when I’m going somewhere. As opposed to the worms, which are generally up above my camera (and I’m certainly not going to try and travel with my camera pointed UP).

see its the exact same argument those of us opposed to PF in the first place have said the people that intend to stay on the ground are perfectly content seeing flight being gimped since it wont affect their mode of transportation but you let others try to suggest the same kind of restriction be applied to ground mounts then all of a sudden its “unfair” and shouldn’t be allowed
the hypocrisy of these people is so obvious they only care about the issue in so much as it doesn’t interfere with or impede their mode of travel gimp flight all you want we will support Blizzard but don’t you dare cause an issue with ground mounts or they’ll be rioting in the streets calling for the heads of anyone in Blizz that is responsible

I, Donny Kawano, do not believe that Blizzard added the worms with the intent of dissuading flying at all. I genuinely believe they are trying to slow travel by flight in a more organic way. Take a less direct route, or literally get slowed.
No dismounting, no death unless you fly into the worm…you have to literally be afk auto-flying for that. They take up a small fraction of each map on a single level, which you can easily fly above or below. The slow is hardly noticeable with a single stack to someone like I, Donny Kawano.
I don’t think flying should be completely safe compared to ground travel anyway. This is a little more interesting. Yes, having to be aware of your surroundings is more interesting.
Donny Kawano slices Koloi’s head off with his claw. Respawn or not, Donny Kawano is finished here. He backflips into his basement. Training resumes.

I find it amazing that so many claim to not want it that they suddenly decided they hate and despise flight only AFTER Blizzard made the decision that flying is bad
I mean they suffered in silence all the years since flying became part of WoW but then right out of the blue Blizz announces flight is no longer good for the game and bamm they all jump up and speak well we always disliked flight too yeah that’s why they NEVER said a word until Blizzard did seriously how much more of a Blizzard fanboy can you be for you to only have an opinion against flight after THEY said something?
again it just shows how much of a sheep some people are they only care about the issue based solely on the fact Blizzard is making such a decision I mean tomorrow Blizz might say youll need to do 10+ mythic dungeons in order to do pet battles or pvp and these same players would still stand up and cheer for them without hesitation based on the merit that it came from Blizzard even if the concept is bad or harms the overall game

The Great worms are interesting atmosphere but they aren’t interesting gameplay: if we’re going to have these long-haul flights back and forth over these remote zones every day, there comes a point where I’d actually like to be able to just afk auto-forward for stretches.

of course theyre not theyre simply a means to annoy fliers or haven’t you noticed Blizzard hasn’t made them be a nuisance to ground mounts? oh no they exist for one reason and one reason only to be a troublesome hinderance and endless source of aggravation for anyone flying and simply be a constant thorn in the sides of players that dared to question the infinite wisdom of the almighty Watcher and his flawless vision for how WoW is supposed to be played
The Great Worm is the tip of the iceberg , Expect to have 100’s of flying mobs shooting you out of the sky in Shadowlands
no itll be more like if you want to fly you must first prove yourself worthy now go out and farm 300 of this rare flower but I must tell you that it only blooms like once per week in the most remote and dangerous parts of this zone and will most likely be surrounded by the fiercest of monsters you can only carry one at a time and if you fail to bring it to me in 30 min or less the flower withers and you must seek out a new one and you can only bring me 5 per day before the pollen becomes too toxic to handle for your delicate senses
welcome to the new time gated grind for flight

You all also have to remember when this post was made the radius of the worms debuff was 100 yards, Shortly after this post is was reduced to 40 yards and That made it quite simple to avoid. At 100 yards you would get the debuff before you could even see the worm and while standing on the ground. This change made it not so flyer unfriendly.
I don’t mind flying obstacles but the way it was first presented it was bad, I remember being shot down over enemy camps in BC, it never bother me. But not even being able to see what was giving you a debuff and having no idea which way to go to avoid it was wrong, but they fixed that. I have no problem with the worms as they are now.

Why slow the fastest means of player travel?
To make flight less enjoyable.
No. Other. Reason.
each new exp they make it less and less enjoyable eventually itll be so tedious players will finally surrender and that’s what Blizzard secretly longs for
its the old frog in boiling water tactic slowly increase heat leaving the frog completely oblivious to whats going on until its too late

I agree, it seems quite likely this is the plan.
I’ll never understand the mind-blowing fascination people have from moving from the ground to a high ledge. It’s just odd. Being able to move from point A to point B?!
So revolutionary.
Part of me wishes they’d bring back the items that could knock people off their over-glorified flying mounts.
Now that’s fun.

yeah but the problem is Watchers ego is so great he keeps bragging about it in advance I mean you saw the live stream of his announcement of PF at the last Blizz con he ended up being hit by a tsunami of boos and he believed he was actually being cheered now that’s either a sign of severe self delusion or hes such a narcistic personality that is convinced he does nothing wrong either way hes not fit for the job and should show some dignity and leave Blizzard since its clear hes going to end up destroying WoW if he keeps going like he has been
