To be honest, all the worm has done is make me chat a LOT less in general. I’m not about to help people out if I can get shot out of the sky. So you are on your own to find rares and crates guys.

well to play devil advocate we have to consider they came from D3 which is a totally different kind of game sure its got a lot of similar things and concepts in common with WoW
but still just because a guy who was a mechanic in civilian life joined the air force doesn’t automatically make them up to speed on rebuilding the engine in an A-10 Warthog sure he might understand the basics but id rather let someone that knows their systems inside and out working on it

frog in boiling water experiment since the first attempt backfired so badly when they tried doing it quickly like ripping it off like a band aid but that didn’t get the support they expected

Today I learned that there’s a rise behind where the Uldum world boss spawns, that is high enough to get hit by the worm while you’re on the ground.

I love getting zapped a foot off the ground in Uldum at the rare above the daily hub, definitely feeling punished for flying higher than the devs intended.

Lucky Blizzard lets you run instead of walk. Hit “/” once and experience what you want.
“Why remove flying from the game? Just add threats to the air if it’s such a problem that doesn’t allow us to just blindly autopilot places.”
Great Worm From Beyond gets added
“OMFG BLIZZARD THIS IS EGREGIOUS! HOW DARE YOU ADD THIS THREAT TO THE SKY TO MITIGATE OUR SPEED! THIS IS ANOTHER GROSS ATTACK ON FLYING I CAN’T EVEN!”
What’s even funnier than the complete BS I totally called where people would say things like “Add threats to the sky, nerf flying speed, just don’t have pathfinder!” then when it got added they’d cry about it until they just got the MoP status quo is the fact they’re complaining about something you have to actively go out of your way to encounter. I have never once gotten a stack of the debuff, maybe because I’m not flying 300 feet above ground or I actually pay attention to my surroundings.

Blizz regrets putting in flying. This is my opinion of course with no factual basis.
They are walking a tightrope trying not to anger people tooooo much while trying to put genie’s back in bottles. Again my opinion.

No that’s mostly correct. They a while back said something along the lines of “One of our biggest mistakes was adding flying, or letting it leave Outland. It was a neat feature and very nice for players but we didn’t anticipate we would be demanded to make it exist in every area of the game rather than just pertaining to Outland.”
Yeah this is kind of a nothing burger for me. I could take it or leave it. In fact I only actually get flying unlocked waaaay into an expansion by just playing the game rather than grind it.
The Blizzard that said that was not the Blizzard that added flying. It read more like Ion trying to justify his fever dream of a vision for this game than anything else.

The only thing the worm does is make you pay attention.
Sorta like what you have to do on a ground mount.
Otherwise the worm is completely and easily avoidable.

while you’re absolutely right, don’t get me wrong here, I don’t want to argue I swear.
But, once Blizz finds something that seems to work in their favor, they first test it out in little ways and if it works the way they intended well, the next time they do anything it’s always in much more grand fashion.
My point being, the big, ugly worms you can see from a distance and avoid are only just the beginning.
Next time, it will be worse.

Why do you feel the need to afk while flying in dangerous areas?
I fly around the vale and Uldum and I don’t have the same issues as you.
This is not as big of an issue as you keep making it out to be

I don’t know what I’d do without the forums 
I’ve seen the great worms from beyond and figured they were bad news so I avoided them. I hadn’t even noticed the debuff.
This thread inspired me to go chase down a Worm so I could be outraged. I did it, couldn’t summon any outrage, oh well, maybe the next thread.
