Second week in a row the great vault gives me an item for the highest equipped slot I have when I have several other slots with lower gear. Last week my highest item was 210 legend shoulders and it was the only 210 item i had. The vault only offered me one 213 item and the rest were sub 200 based on what i was able to do…guess what…that NPC standing next to the vault who gives you this lame speech about “we reward you with what you need” IS FULL OF IT. The highest level item generated for me to choose was for the only high geared slot I had.
This week same thing. I had a 213 neck and the vault gave me a 216 neck when I still have 190 slot gear in other places. I killed two heroic raid bosses and normal denathrius who drops 207. YET my only raid gear choice was 200? THIS IS LOWER THAN WHAT I DID.
Also I ran Mythic 8+ and various 6+ and none of the gear rolled even had stats I could use and were all for slots where I already had the equivalent i level and better stats.
Answer one question: WHY does that NPC next to the vault talk about “we know what you need” and provide you loot that helps you when it has been the LITERAL opposite for two weeks now. I have yet to get a single useful item from 12 choices of gear in 2 weeks. This vault is just as phoney as the old system where i would get the same bracers for three weeks in a row…just pretends to give you choices but literally none of the stats you need and always ALWAYS looks for your highest item slot and gives you a roll for that to prevent any kind of real ilevel gains. Fix this trash.
I got my 200 weapon from Nathria and this sweet crit/haste 220 cloak from the Vault. Bad luck is just bad luck, man.
The loot is supposedly smart though. It’s meant to take your needs into account. Not stats mind you but slot.
I’ve gotten upgrades each week but I was offered a bunch of 200 trinkets when I had trinkets in the 180s and boots at 158.
People keep saying this, but I don’t recall this ever being a thing. It simply offers you more choices for a more likely shot at an upgrade.
I don’t know about it taking that into account, but even if it did its unlikely Blizzard designed it to always give you options that are at least ilvl upgrades for your lowest items. It would be nice if it did!
To be fair I may have heard about it here or just misunderstood whatever announcement was made on it.
Yeah the box is utter garbage just like in BFA. Mine today gave me literally all options for gear I’m currently wearing.
The exact same pieces at the exact same Item level. It loves giving me cloaks as well.
So this week my chest was 750 stygia… wee… a worthless amount of a currency!
I woke up this morning excited to open my weekly chest, the second one I get to open, what fun! And then this.
I’m not sure if I want to do BFA all over again, where the weekly chest was just resources and a worthless item every week.
if people want to target a specific piece of loot, why not just pvp?

I’m hopeful to get a Helm in my vault this week once I log in after work. If not I’ll buy one after I cap Conquest.
No it isn’t. The first week I ran any mythics at all I got 1 drop: shoulders. I ran a +2 that week, and guess what my vault item was? You guessed it: shoulders. It gave me a piece for the only slot I had an epic in already. If it is smart, it’s smart in the wrong way.
Also do what Nobully says.
It’s not too hard to get to 1600 and you can target 213 items, plus get more vault unlocks too!
Yeah idk I mean I didn’t do a lot of content on this character last week but the only thing it offered me was a token for an offhand that I have absolutely nothing to pair with. I would’ve gladly taken a staff
Considering what I see from the RNG, I would not be surprised if the system is designed to bottleneck like that. I got a cloak two weeks in a row, and my first week it filled 3 of my 4 slots with cloaks.
Cloak is my highest ilvl item. So it wouldn’t shock me if it was designed to give you pieces you can’t use.
Too much verse. The worst stat for fury.
I got my 210 weapon last week so I can’t complain there. This week was a letdown. Highest ilvl was lower than my current gloves. Second highest was a 3 ilvl upgrade to my bracers but trading my best stat for worst. I ended up with a raid finder ring because it was a 3 ilvl upgrade and had tons of haste compared to VER on my old one.
So far mine has been what i can use, I thought the system did know what you already have… guess not.
I hear you, they need to go back to currency systems that give us a steady and predictable process to gear up.
Your ilvl is 198. If you’re getting “The exact same pieces at the exact same Item level.” that means you’re AT BEST only doing mythic 7s or normal raid. If you’re not pushing content, you’re not going to get better rewards.
I was 202 and had 20-30 ilvl increases in multiple slots because I did content at the high range of my ilvl instead of the low range. Do more rewarding content and you’ll get better rewards.
