Great Vault Rewards

So I earned Shadowlands Rival (1800) a few weeks ago in 2s and got a nice piece of 2020 gear, but my Great Vault rewards this week were only ilevel 207 (combatant). Could anyone explain to me why?

I stopped playing arenas after I got 1800; do I need to play arenas at 1800 each week? I am very confused and any help would really be appreciated!

Uhh well I definitely didn’t pay to get it or get carried haha. I was hoping I could sit at 1800 and then collect the gear each week without having to keep the grind up. Looks like I was wrong!

I am guilty of not understanding a lot about this expansion though. Thanks for the helpful replies all!

From what I know, you need to play (or win?) atleast 1 game from that rating bracket you want reward from. But you can always use honor to upgrade the combatant pieces to rival if you dont want to risk losing your rival rating.

I could be wrong here, but I believe you can just sit 1800 and collect your lower-end pieces from vault and still simply upgrade them with honor. Consider this if you’re concerned with having to ‘keep up the grind’

You have to win at least one game at or above 1800 for the vault to change it to rival level

Yeah I’m pretty sure you just need the achievement to unlock the honor upgrades for the entire season

This is the cheese method.

Get 2.1k. Sit it and farm your conquest in other bracket.

Collect 200 ilvl out of vault and just farm honor to upgrade to 226.

You can actually.

So your piece from the chest will be the highest level you won that week.

However your upgrade is highest CR you currently have.

Get the 207, or the 200 whatever, and then upgrade it with Honor.

I know what you said, and im telling him if he wants the vault gear to be 220 he needs to win a game above 1800. Just play a game, grinding the honor to upgrade is stupid af.

But he doesn’t “need” to win an arena to obtain the same gear. Hence my comment. This was the entirety of my point, and more or less the explanation to his concern and the whole point of this thread.

You need to get one win in your rating bracket you wish to receive gear from if you want those ilvl rewards from the great vault.

So you have two options, you could just buy the conquest gear (at 200ilvl) and upgrade it with honor.

OR

You need at least one win in that bracket to get 220 ilvl from vault.

I thought you wouldn’t be able to upgrade unless you won a game at the upgrade CR for the week?

You absolutely can, but if you want to sit 1800 in one bracket instead of getting 1 win in it each week you have to pay the honor to upgrade whatever piece you choose from the great vault. If you sit 1800 but play low rated with friends in 3s or RGBs etc, the rest of the season, each piece just needs 3 honor upgrades after you get it

TLDR; win 1 game each week in your 1800 bracket, or just spend 5-6k honor extra. No biggie
