Great Vault Rewards Update - March 15

This has to be the best part. You just love how they word it huh. Really made me laugh.

“For Whatever Reason”

Can we just be straight forward here and call it what it is. A turd RNG lottery loot system.

There are only so many BiS items.
There are 10 times more worthless items
Gloves, Bracers, Belts, Crappy Shoulders / Crappy trinkets have the highest drop rate.
Or certain items have a higher drop chance than others.

You are playing lottery RNG ON TOP OF lottery RNG …to get loot you actually want. Twice the RNG.

There Blizzard I said it for you. GG.

Well I think the intent is that the consolation prize as you get toward the end of gearing is progressing towards your sockets (i.e. all of the vault options are dupes or unwanted - which won’t be the case in the first 3-8 weeks or so).

To your point, it does mean no parallel progression towards sockets, like you might have done in Korthia (unless you have a series of bad rng early on in GV).

Still … this vs. grinding Korthia or some other rep + currency like it is definitely a tradeoff I am willing to make.

Well vault of shame strikes again. Main had 3 choices, nothing good so had to take the tokens. Very mixed on it really, even though it was enough to pick up the remaining rep to push revered via the 250 rep cache. Alt had mixed results and ended up taking weapon, even though another item was 272…in a tier slot, wrong stats as usual. The weapon was better suited at lower ilvl, meh ok.

I LOVE THIS!!! Thank you!

did you actually sim the piece? or was this just “icyveins says vers is bad!”

Where is it mentioned about any website, or sim. Neither of which are completely accurate due to different variables. So taking an item that is an ilvl upgrade over correct stats for the sake of ilvl itself is correct because ‘sim r reliable always’, or ‘website say stat bad’? You’re going to get stats not desired as it’s a part of it, sure, lose a bit in one area and gain in another. Picking for the sake of ilvl makes no sense if it’s going to tank what youre trying to accomplish.

You do you, love ya for it, was just my comment adding to others on the continuing issues many have on the vault.

So I had 4 segments unlocked between two rows and had 4 tokens offered.
I think you mean if you unlock at least 3 segments of one row?
Because it was not working as this states for multiple characters.

Perhaps allow us to use some of these tokens we may have collected to re-roll our vault slots? There have been several weeks where I’ve filled all 9 slots and not had a single piece worth taking. Being able to spend a few tokens to reroll one of the vault slots for another shot at an upgrade would be neat.

Couple weeks later: Guess they still don’t care about people playing both forms of content /shrug

people like you would be disappointed in anything that doesn’t just give you stuff for free. This was a massively positive change and all people can do is complain that it wasn’t more.

As evidenced by pretending that it’s a valid problem that PvPers don’t get a free separate vault even though they can get high PvE ilvls on their gear, and conversely that high PvE ilvls can be good in PvP while someone is filling out slots/lower ranked… Essentially just wanting more unnecessary free stuff.

Love to see it. Thanks for the great changes lately, Blizzard.

I imagine with a “people like you” post you’re not going to be convinced, and you’re just here to be abrasive.

So for anyone else who hasn’t thought about the issue:

  • Scenario 1: You play PVE content, you get a PVE vault.
  • Scenario 2: You play PVP content, you get a PVP vault.
  • Scenario 3: You play both PVP and PVE content, you must choose the type of gear you get from the vault.

In scenario 3, one of the things you did is not going to be rewarded. Not all gear translates well between PVP and PVE.

If PVP players feel disadvantaged that PVE gear is good in PVP content, or vice versa, that’s a separate issue (and quite valid considering you can gear funnel in +15s. PVP gearing today is a joke.).

While this is a great addition to the game - it feels a little troll that the only way we get the socket upgrade is when we get bad luck. Players that play multiple specs also get punished since they’ll be able to use the vault for longer.

Perhaps consider another way to purchase the socket upgrade? Maybe a combination of the other currencies?
