I know this will probably go unread by any Blizzo people but there are some optimizations the great vault can have that would make it feel so much better to open each week

Lower probability of previously taken items. I have been offered the ring from the nine 3 times now. I took it the first time i was offered it cause it was the largest DPS increase for me and i was happy. But the subsequent times it just felt the efforts of clearing new Mythic bosses seems wasted if i just get offered the same piece. This has happened before in BFA too where i got the same set of bracers from my cache 5 times in a row. This isn’t a plea to get rid of the RNG i know that still has to exist to some extent. But i am saying lowering the probability of items taken per character. Depending on how GV was implemented this might require a rework of the system but its much needed.

If you are going to have special items (IE dom socket pieces) remove those from M+ or reduce their chances of appearing. This is incredibly frustrating on alts especially since i dont do full 10 M+ on them. But they have 1 or 2 dom sockets that are basically irreplaceable even without the set bonus. Having a shield appear on my every so often as a healer is so much better than a stat increase. I try and get my limited keys in and then BAM i just get pieces that replace my dom sockets. If in next patch the intention is to add near mandatory pieces from raid that will always be XYZ slots. Then this should be addressed.

Try and get one slot choice per week. As someone who does 10 M+ and at least raid bosses per week, nothing is more frustrating then getting offered 3-4 legs in one week or 3-4 gloves. With rings/trinkets/weapons i kinda understand since there are up to 2 slots and there are plenty of choices. But for basically everything else it feels so bad to have half of your weekly options be taken up by the same slot.
I will not claim to know how the logic of the great vault is implemented but these dont seem to far of a stretch to implement. Right now it seems to just randomly pick from a pool of eligible loot without any consideration of other choices made. It then seems to remove that specific choice from the table. But it should add in extra level of filtration to this logic to prevent the scenarios listed above.
-
Maybe keep a separate table (if not already of player choices) and remove unique-equip / non weapon slots from the choices (maybe up to 5-6 weeks).
-
For M+ Remove these power slots from eligible table (like what was done in BFA with azerite pieces. At least for 9.1.
-
Not only remove the same item from subsequent choices but also remove same non-trinkets/rings/weapon slots from the tables. Seeing multiple trinkets and rings or weapons doesnt feel as bad (imo) as say 3 pairs of boots.
Again i dont expect for this to be seen or even responded to by anyone but these changes dont seem ground breaking to me and would make the great vault feel better opening each week. Cause after the first few week it feels absolutely terrible to open it each week since it offers little to no value most of the time.

Make every duplicate item turn into an item that increases the ilevel of the original by 1, up to a max of whatever the end mythic raid gear is. It gives some progress, but not fast enough to be game breaking, and everyone could benefit at least a little.
Remove great vault in its entirety.
Rework valor to scale to 252 for timing 20s, but still gated.
Increase conquest gain per week (or lower cost).
Allow trading of gear even if item level upgrade.
Allow masterloot in mythic raids only.
the issue i see with that is with raid gear. It works well with M+ dupes. But raid or even arena gear it potentially has you getting gear past your rating (which i dont think is a terrible thing but i can see from a balance standpoint being slightly annoying) or even disincentivizes some level of progress.
If you get piece from heroic Sylvannas twice in your vault (and you picked it) you would essentially have your mythic level piece. kinda makes doing mythic raiding useless.
But M+ i think this works.
It feels to me that Blizzard is kinda set on using it for this expansion. Maybe now they will just use it all time going forward much to our dismay or something similar to it. I think it has potential of being a decent system just it needs tweaking.
All other points i agree with except the master loot though.
I think for most decent mythic raiders it would greatly benefit them. But then you get the 90% of the rest of the guilds. The ones where there are fiends for loot. The ones that kinda dip their toe into raiding.
“Oh this piece dropped? let me give it to my friend who didnt help prog at all.”
Then when the cross server mythic groups start up, there will be people reserving pieces off every boss. Master loot gets ruined by the players. I’d say bring back reroll tokens at the very least

I said go up 1 item level, not 1 tier of item levels.
But yeah, it’d be a little wonky with arena and rating.
oh literally 1 ilevel HAHA
yeah that changes things.
you would need terrible luck to go up an entire tier in that case
“let me get 9 jaithys rq from 9 weeks of farming heroic bosses”
I highly suggest that we remove these parasitic toxic systems. Weekly chest or Great Vault has nothing but downside for the overall game health. The solution is simple as it’s already been in the game which is Valor and Badge Vendors. This also allows players that miss out on weekly chest from not playing to catch back up with a catch up mechanic and actually buy gear at a vendor. While also letting current players target specific gear which allow for a clear gearing path.
The vault will always waste the majority of players time and make them feel bad leading to people quitting or not coming back. It’s time to just have vendors again where players can feel rewarded for the time spent in game.
The reason why you are offered with the same stuff is becoz you never step’d up on a more difficult content.
How did I get 23 consecutive weeks of all upgrades from Vault from last Season? Becoz I step’d up the difficulty every after week that gives higher ilevel.
Compare 9 weeks of doing the same stuffs over and over. Like M+2s for 9 weeks. Compare it to M+2s on first week, M+3s on 3rd week, M+5s on 5th week, M+7’s on 7th week, M+10s on 9th week.
On Raid, 9 weeks on Normal? You could do 9 Normal Bosses for 1st week. Do 3 Heroic l Boss kill with 6 Normal Boss on 6th week. Do 6 Heroic Boss on 9th week and last 3 Normal Boss .
Current mechanics is asking us to step up and we would be rewarded accordingly.
Even for people max’d out with ilevel 252 gear, they have to step up. Once they have 3 or 4 weeks on ilevel 252’s on Vault mainly from M+, they should start doing Mythic Raid.
The character I created the thread with by accident isn’t representative of my current progress.
I currently do 10 M+ (all at 15 and up ) per week and I push at least one key a week time to a 18 or 19.
I clear at least 4 mythic bosses per week ( I sit the nine cause doesn’t have gear for me while it does for others) and we are progressing on pain smith
In the past few weeks I have been offered the same ring from mythic raid cache 3 times.
Last season I got offered the same items from mythic plus time after time even though I went all season getting 10 15s per week.
Saying I am not pushing for harder content is just not factual. You got upgrades each week? Great for you. You got lucky and you progressed through the patch. I couldn’t get a 226 weapon all of s1 even though I got mythic raid cache and 10 keys in each week. So I was stuck at everything being 226 except my weapon for months.
The point I wanted to make is that there are small things that can be done done to make the great vault better. It’s easy to just scrap it but there is also room for construction I’ve criticism on how to improve it.

For Mythic+, there is a Valor mechanics that let us target a specific slot for upgrades. I remember I spent 3 weeks running 3 dungeons that drop Range Weapons at the End of the Dungeon. It dropped but it dropped from a fellow hunter but he generously gave it to me. And I was able to upgrade it thru Valor. Then at the 4th week, the Vault gave me a Range Weapon upgrade. Either way, I got a weapon upgrade. And I did my thing even if the Vault almost missed it.
This season is different. It’s raining Range Weapons on me. I was upgrading a Range Weapon with Valor then another Range Weapon with higher ilevel dropped at the End of the Dungeon. So after upgrading my Range Weapon for about 3 weeks with Valor, the Vault drop me a Range Weapon. It’s GG. I even asked my Mythic+ group last week, if they want a Bow becoz it dropped on me again… The Philosopher bow dropped 3 times on me this season at the end of the dungeon in SoA.
People are exaggerating. Most people are impatient. Compare it to 35 weeks of ICC25 back then, I strongly believe that Weekly Vault (with Valor) is way easier to gear. People are crying and it’s just like 7 or 8 weeks of 9.1 Weekly Vault.
