Has there been any discussion about giving the Great Vault a reward system like the Dinars in S4 of Shadowlands or S4 of Dragonflight for those ‘must have’ items?
Reasoning:
Many raiders / M+ players run into streaks of bad luck where the vault holds nothing of value despite filling all the slots. The current ‘bad luck’ rewards are difficult to feel good about given how weak gems sockets are presently / after you have everything socketed. Many players only have that 1 item that would be an upgrade and each week the Great Vault feels like a big let down when it doesn’t show up.
But what if there was a way to spend say 3 weeks worth of the 6x Bad Luck Tokens to get a currency that let you buy a Myth Track item like we have had in the Season 4’s of the past 2 expansions. Have it only open up after Hall of Fame is done so it doesn’t affect that race. That would at least give players who are still missing that 1 key item a reason to keep pushing each week.

I’m sure we will get something similar in S3 of TWW since there will not be a S4. We’re still in S1. Patience.

I’m not talking about a final season fix. I’m talking about a consistent system implemented every tier after the Hall of Fame fills. Guilds locking out on Bosses 5+ in Mythic raid or having perpetual bad luck in M+ vault makes progressing characters difficult later in the tier every season. Having only a single trinket that is an upgrade out of everything in the game and not seeing it week after week after week isn’t a positive way to keep people engaged.
i am a mythic plus only player and have filled my vault with three myth track slots (doing eight 10s) every week since week one of the season.
I have not yet seen one ring or one neck in my vault. I also have not seen a viable trinket (meaning that it is a trinket that, at 639, would be an upgrade in dps over my 626 trinkets).
that would be perfect. my last five weeks in vault was nothing but sockets for me.
i’ve been trying to advocate for the same system as DF season 4 bullions since the end of season 4 because I am just so tired of getting no gear because bad luck in vaults.
Everyone told me that a bullion system would be giving me free gear - but what about me working hard every week to fill my vault and getting literally no gear upgrades for the past five weeks?
i’m stuck with two trinkets at 626 because i haven’t been given a viable myth track trinket option in my vault. Can’t craft trinkets.
Every myth track trinket i’ve seen in my vaults would be a dps downgrade even if i fully upgraded them to 639.

As far as I remember they told those type of systems wouldn’t be put in standard seasons. In many ways they are too powerful and would need to be tuned much more tighter than in S4 type of content.
As far as raids go I think they should mainly buff drops, the amount of drops is the bigger problem in raids.

Main problem with dinars is that you can buy items that drop from bosses you’ve never defeated.
It’s not bad luck protection, it’s just gear-mart.

Blizz has stated outside of meme seasons that dinars bullions wont be happening.
Everyone hits that wall at one point or another.
Its a safe bet to say this wont happen.
Just because they have said something doesn’t mean they can’t reverse course when presented with a reasonable course of action. My suggestion is a very expensive (for the player) option. 3 weeks of vaults with no loot giving 1 piece of deterministic gear, only after Hall of Fame is closed. That puts the timeframe for this feature to turn on about halfway through a typical season, giving players 2, maybe 3 possible pieces of purchased gear before the start of the next tier?
Its about making the efforts in game feel rewarding in some fashion. Keeping players engaged. Given the dwindling numbers of people participating in M+ this season, I would think they would want to find ways to increase engagement. This seems like a way to keep people playing because there is a clear path forward, if a longer one.

Bumping for visibility, but last time Max asked Ion this question their argument was they only offered dinars/bullions because in the end of the expansion the raids rotate so it’s hard to target farm specific items. I don’t agree with this and I feel like it’s an excuse.
It will happen in late seasons just like the examples you gave…
1 token, maybe 2, must have killed the boss on that difficulty or gotten XYZ score for mythic+ items.
I don’t think a system like this should deterministically grant myth track items. Maybe like with bullion, where the gear starts at the minimum ilvl for the season and has to be upgraded normally all the way up after acquisition. Otherwise you’d be able to get myth-track stuff just from filling 3 vault slots for 3 weeks, regardless of what level those slots are at.
I’m not asking about the final season of the expansion. I’m talking about EVERY season. Here is an example from my own raid. We’ve killed heroic Silken Court and Queen every week since week 2 of the season with 22-26 players. We have seen exactly 2 Spymasters drop, 1 Mad Queen’s Mandate, and 2 Seal of the Poisoned Pact. That’s a LOT of players praying for a vault drop that never materializes. Even worse, since we’re in mythic, they lose 2 vault slots to mythic bosses (less so when we start locking out soon on Princess).
The point is, it’s not game breaking to add this as it affects only the very end of each season, and yet its upside is it gives players a way to ‘complete’ their character each season despite the RNG of the vault.
The past 3 weeks I’ve had 2-3 myth track tier pieces I already have occupying the limited number of vault slots we get. I dread each vault day now because while I hope for an upgrade in 1 of the 3 spots I have left, past experience taught me that all I’ll end up with is tokens. I’m certain I’m not alone in this sentiment and this idea gives a tangible way to alleviate this in the player base.
That’s not the paradigm blizzard wants. It’s not about it being “game breaking”, it’s about only allowing it later in the expansion. You can want it sooner all you like but there is no indication they are even considering this change.
Why is this bad? If the system doesn’t even start until after the Hall of Fame is closed, and you have to ‘give up’ 3 weeks of vaults to get it, who is it hurting? Players easily could have done a single 10+ key for completion and gotten a myth track gear piece each week. And if they weren’t capable of getting +10 done, how is giving them 1 myth track gear piece going to hurt anyone?

I think in addition to this there are things that could be implemented besides just the dinar/bullion system that exist to help you sort through 3 raids worth of loot.
Being able to freeze gear pieces (similar to how we can freeze items in the trading post) in the great vault is something that was discussed in the past that would go a tremendous way in helping alivate some dead weeks with the great vault.
They don’t want a paradigm where players feel good in game? Where players feel like they have a path to progress that they have some agency in? That seems like a silly business model.
The difference between what I’m saying and what you’re suggesting is that what I’m saying requires that a player is actually doing myth-level content in order to get myth-level gear. What you’re suggesting would allow a player who does nothing but LFR and/or heroic dungeons to get myth-level gear. There’s a big difference between these two things.
And while I do agree that it probably wouldn’t be a big deal to allow for the latter, that’s not the design philosophy Blizz has. That’s why bullion gear in S4 DF started at LFR level and had to be upgraded up to myth-level.

Sure, if that’s the huge concern for the final ~2-3 months of a season, make it start at base ilvl like DF season 4 and upgrade from there.
What if you could use a nascent crest (So the crest cost for crafting) to upgrade the track of an item? But you need to have killed the boss on that difficulty or gotten the score.
Example: Own hero spymaster, kill mythic Silken Court, spend 90 crests turning heroic spymaster into myth spymaster.
