I like RDF, it was the only thing I wanted, but did they have to change the LFG system (especially the one in Raids groups) like an absurd RETAIL?
I like to put myself in a quote so that raid that I want to pass like Naxxramas or Ulduar happens from what I couldn’t, but that system similar to Retail, removing that and seeing what groups are being formed is ridiculous.
Here the problem now is not the RDF, here now the LFG system that is ruining the experience to pass any raid and dungeon that you want to stop without the use of RDF.
What else did they want? I only wanted the RDF, not for it to touch another system, what’s going on?
The old system had flaws, like getting spammed with invites after you already found that 5’th member because there’s no list for the queue. Also no search box, so you’d have to mouse over each listing to see if its a rep run, gdkp, or whatever else.
But, it would be nice if they had a hybrid system combining the best of both. Leave the system they added in, but add a new section where you can list yourself for a raid without signing up to be the leader. Then leaders can go browse that section and invite you, and people can sign up directly to their listing.
The system works perfectly for retail but it doesn’t really work for WotLKC.
They will not fix it. All they did was port the tool and remove some bits from it, don’t expect any more work put into it.
The problem, Retail or Classic servers are in the era of 2010 or 2008 or 2004 with more than 12M players.
The fact is that there are comforts among players who want to play the video game without problems.
Now, with the problem of boost and loot boosting with gold it is becoming chaos for the classic raids, and Blizzard was only asked for the RDF, NOT TO MAKE A COPY+PASTE of the Retail, what a necessity, it was only RDF and nothing else What nonsense have they done?
The thing was simple, it was just the use of putting the RDF, not touching anything, that copy+paste system did not work out well for a classic server that needs to be more attention-grabbing since its retail is just boring no matter the effort What they did to make an expansion away from the failure of Shadowlands, but forgetting it like it was with WoD.
you cannot see which classes are already in a group
all raids/dungeons in one section, endless scrolling
often unclear which mode the content is listed for
(player issue, but could not happen before)
no way to sort systematically
(e.g. close to full groups on top, listed players looking to join buttom)
no pvp section
even the search is bad, since there are many ways of spellings for activites, like 5s, 5 vs 5, 5x5, 5v5 or icc, icecrown citadel, icecrowncitadel - to check all of them, you either need to scroll through the whole list or try all possible spellings
Since the headline of created activities is custom, the excuse that players require an authentificator to add a note is refuted, too. It proves Blizzard simply wants to force it on players.
I cannot believe anyone in the classic team honestly thinks, that the new LFG is superior to the old one. It was just easier to introduce with the half copy-pasted RDF and they could not integrate the former LFG into it.
This has proven enormously disappointing and has made it so much harder to find casual 5s players. It now requires manually looking up via text search, which obviously has problems due to different terms often being used. Furthermore, cross faction groups are shown even though you can’t group cross faction and if you do fill a group using this terrible system, you get kept in the queue, receiving more messages for people trying to get into your already filled group. Oh, and listing as a single person for people to be able to find you is now also more difficult because the only way to actually put yourself on the list is to “start a group” meaning people can’t invite you because you’re marked as in a group already.
I think the sentiment is pretty consistent throughout this thread and also throughout all of my interactions since the new RDF has been implemented: RDF is good, but shouldn’t come at the cost of all of the other functionality of the LFG system.
The LFD system is copied from dragonflight without a second thought.
In the raid/dungeon section both factions are shown.
In the custom section both factions of all realms are shown.
That does not only make no sense for classic wow, it simply does not work. Players of different factions cant group up there and any activity besides pvp activites cannot be done cross realm.
Blizzard is not aware of the differences of retail or classic, or simply does not care enough to make LFD work in wotlk. Why else would they copy paste a retail feature into classic without proper adjustments?
The premade group finder got sooooo much worse in this patch. It’s an abomination. I was trying to make a group for VoA25, and every time I invited someone who whispered me rather than signing up, it delisted me. It worked way better before…
I would appreciate a fix like this: if a player clicks on “organized groups”, the current window closes and the old LFG opens. If they adjusted the old LFG for ICC patch already, this fix should take like 5min max. If they havent yet, it shouldnt take longer than an hour.
But I am afraid, that Blizzard wont make this effort.
