Great AV Changes but the Single Most Important Issue is not fixed

Horde win rate will still be around 95-99% with this batch of changes.

The good news is that Blizzard is at least reading our complaints and fixing many of the obvious flaws in the AV map and has gotten most of the minor flaws with this proposed patch.

The bad news is the single biggest flaw (the horde cave location making it too easy for the horde to defend IB GY and thus making it near impossible for alliance to win) is still in existence.

There’s 2 possible solutions:

  1. The best solution is to move the cave south thus making both team meet in the middle of the map at the initial attack and simultaneously making IB GY far harder to defend.
  2. The alternative solution, if Blizzard doesn’t want to change the map from its 1.12 state, is to make it so that both teams are forced to rezz at their nearest controlled GYs on the map and cannot rezz in the cave unless they control no GYs. This way horde will rezz at FW GY instead of the cave making it far more feasible for an alliance zerg to hold and defend IB GY from the horde defense.

I like the proposed batch of fixes, but they deal with a lot of the minor annoyances, some which haven’t been a big deal for 5-6 months (i.e. Prospector Pull or Paladin pull on Vann/Drek).

The biggest imbalance is still there and needs to be fixed before I’d consider AV to really be in a playable state for alliance.

As it will be with the proposed batch, alliance is incentivized to finish their AV rep grind asap and then not queue again.

All we can do is hope that Blizzard is just seeing what this batch of changes accomplishes before touching the horde cave situation.

let av die

Isn’t this the change that made AV heavily won by alliance for years after?

How about just put in the real AV.

I appreciate your empathy and competitive spirit. This would be a win win for both factions because alliance would que more to decrease the wait time horde have.

Yeah I stopped queueing for AB/WSG due to how many premades are rolling there (on both sides).

AV with a fix to the cave rezzing situation would at least incentivize regular alliance players that are done with their rep grind to come back.
That would bring down queues pretty significantly imo. That’s why I think a change to it would be a win-win.

Would also make for fun games. The current horde meta is not fun for either side. Yes the horde is “winning”, but many of the games are painful grinds.

I’d much rather see a meta where both teams have 25-30 on offense with 10-15 on defense and it’s more of a base race scenario. That meta is only possible if alliance can capture IB GY.

Not sure what you’re talking about, but even if the cave moves south or the rezzing situation is changed (so horde don’t rezz in cave but FW GY instead after IB GY is capped), horde will still win a pretty clear majority. It just won’t be 95-99%.

Why does nobody actually link to an official update about these changes or even mention what they are in posts like these, like, I have no context for what your referring to here.

You could you know, read the blue sticky at the top of the forum…

When there’s an obviously new update about something that’s been a hot topic for months?

It doesn’t have AV in the title, but sure, we don’t need to go down this road because it’s irrelevant to the thread.

I personally like the ally backdoor fix but I don’t imagine it improves things much. No druid holding is just going to have everyone nope-ing out the BG as soon as they deploy.

Really all the backdoor fix means is alliance will be trapped in DB longer.

Well at the very least we have a way to get out of DB by going around …

No backdoor makes a race finish more winnable because the alliance can defend their base with a small team now effectively.

I’m not saying the map isn’t a LITTLE imbalanced but the real reason alliance loses AV (along with almost every other pug) is we have EXTREMELY SELFISH players who like to queue up with PvE specs, meme specs, terrible gear and alts.

If you’re not at least in pre-raid PvP bis and PvP specced you are alliances problem and there’s not a SINGLE CHANGE that blizzard can make that is going to make the few PvPers on alliance carry that garbage to a victory.

I love the “rez nearest GY” idea.

Requires no map change and evens the playing field.

Given the rationale that they’re using “keeping the design at AV 1.12”, I think the rez change is the one they will eventually do.

It basically is the only way that would really make it worthwhile for alliance to queue up. Alliance zergs would have a good chance at taking and holding IB GY against 10-20 horde defenders.

I think the meta would somewhat shift to a “base race” concept with each team fielding 10-15 defenders to try to hold off the other side.

What’s the thing about kiting the war masters? Does it prevent bringing them outside one or two at a time? Or does it prevent not killing them at all?
