Graphics settings resetting

So, I have my “lighting quality” setting set to low all the time. However whenever I zone to a new area or log out, it will be as if I have it set to Good or High, but still be in the Low setting option, so I need to set to good and than back to low for it to work. How can I fix this?

Can someone help me understand what this is? I found a very suspicious folder that was installed on my computer, this is what was in one of the files. Any help is appreciated! I recognize my graphics card, but what does this mean??

  • Program Files (x86) World of Warcraft retail
(I have never seen this “retail” before, I’ve played for 13 years.

  • (So, I am just going to list this out as shown in the “gx.log”

OK, so Nvidia checked if NvAPI, and if it’s valid???
Then they detect whatever an AFR is… “AFR found with 1 device”
Then, they list the vendor info, and then a bunch of other stuff, and finally, this is the part that is FREAKING ME OUT!!!

WoW keeps crashing, and on top of that, every hour or 2 battle.net update agent keeps requesting Admin privileges to my hard drive. And I think that Battlenet’s Security Certificate is no good. The website in the certificate information is spelled wrong and when I pull up running processes there are different programs running that have different graphics and contact information for Battlenet. I continue to get security warnings and I took screen shots if you want to see them.
PS, WHAT IS THIS FILE PATH??? I have never seen this before!! Faulting Application Path: I Cant use links… Program Files (x86) World of Warcraft retail

I know this is a load of info, but I know that there are few of you that actually knows what all of this means… Whoever can help me figure this out, I will hook up with some cool pets

Hello gang! We got two completely different issues in this thread… for Alturnity, if the settings changes aren’t persisting between sessions, or even resetting between zones, then this is indication that the game is being blocked from writing/accessing its own settings file. Please check this Windows permissions setting which our games sometimes need:

Secondary Logon Service

Please note you must reboot for changes to this setting to take effect.

For Tamemeplz, the 8.1 patch actually changed the World of Warcraft folder structure, placing the game files into that /_retail_ folder you mentioned.

This is part of a structural change that lets us save space when multiple versions of the client are installed (such as a player who has the live version and is testing on the PTR), allowing individual files to be shared between versions when appropriate.

The wording in the logs about “device destroyed” when the game encounters an issue sounds dramatic, but basically means the graphics rendering session is ending for whatever reason.

We have seen some issues lately with the digital certificates needing renewal, and we have instructions how to address that here:

BLZBNTBTS00000011

If you get the confirmation pop-up multiple times, this may also be a case of the program not having proper permission to access or edit its own files, so please also check the Secondary Logon Service steps.

Secondary Logon Service

And again, you must reboot for changes to this setting to take effect.

Best of luck in your adventures

Thank you so much!! You clearly know your stuff, and I guess I was being overly dramatic, so I really appreciate your patience and logic  Thanks for the articles!!
Come by my server anytime for a Pet Stampede

Thank you, this worked.
