Graphics Fix

Like many, I fought "132" errors after yesterday's update. Eventually, I stopped getting the error, but the game itself wouldn't display. Task Manager said it was running, and using resources, but the only thing I could see was the "Glove" pointer on my screen.

After many hours of troubleshooting, complete with a fresh install of WoW and the battle.net launcher, here's what fixed my problem:

BLUF: Running on a laptop with Nvidia GeForce 940MX. My setup didn't like DirectX 11. Changed WoW to use DirectX 12, and it works like a champ.

I did follow directions from other threads to use the DDU driver uninstaller, then reinstalled the latest driver from Nvidia's site. This alone didn't fix the issue. This is what did:

1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel
2. Click Manage 3D settings
3. Click the Program Settings tab
4. Click the dropdown for the program to customize. If you find World Of Warcraft (wow.exe), select it. If you don't find it listed, click the Add button and select it
5. Click the dropdown to select the preferred graphics processor. Choose the Integrated Graphics option
6. Click Apply
7. Launch the game
8. Click Yes on the popup to set hardware values to default
9. In the lower left corner, click Menu, System, Advanced
10. Change Graphics API to DirectX 12
11. Apply, then Okay
12. Exit the game
13. Back in the Nvidia Control Panel, change the preferred graphics processor to the High Performance NVIDIA Processor
14. Click Apply
15. Launch the game. *DO NOT* reset the hardware profile to default. Doing so will reset the DirectX version back to 11

At this point, my game loaded just fine. I've logged in and out about 10 times, and it's loaded every time since.

If you've already done every trick you can think of, hopefully this will help.
Thank you amazing generous guru! You have solved my issue at the very least and I am very grateful!

- There is no option to change graphics cards for me? I know my CPU has an in-built one but cant switch.
Gotta say i wish Blizzard would pin things like this. I spent 24 hours tweaking, fiddling, and bending over backwards trying to figure out why everything Blizzard suddenly hated my PC after a windows update.

Thank you for taking the time to write this up though, saved me another day of pulling out my hair.
Blizz this SHOULD be pined somewhere this worked for me as well fixed my direct x12 issues.
