The character screen says that my graphics drive is out pf date and that I need to update. I am not intelligent on computers but im running on a nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 I have already updated the drivers. any help would be appreciated.

I’m having the same issue
Tried logging in on the laptop, crash at character select screen, followed by a pop up “Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft”
According to the list of supported graphics cards by Blizzard, I should be good.
NVIDIA GTX 970M with up to date drivers.
Had the issue, updated graphics driver, still issue persists. Rolled back driver to previous version, still an issue. Re-installed latest greatest, still issues.
If anyone has advise or recommendation please share.

Post a dxdiag report which will list driver version and date.

Issue resolved
Laptop has in integrated HD4600 & 970M, settings in wow was set for auto select.
Went into NVIDIA control panel and changed settings to run in the GTX, plus I had to add WoW in the program list to run discretely on the GTX.
Good to go. Explains why I was getting the message the card was unsupported, because it was trying to run on the HD4600.
Go to your wow settings and change it back to Direct X 11. This should solve your problem
