Not sure where to post this since it’s not about WoW but kind of is for me…
Anyway,
I am getting a Gigabyte GTX 1650 to use in my PC as my current GTX 770 seems to be wearing out.
But I am unsure if it will work in my PC, can anyone help me and let me know if it will, I can provide any information needed to help you assess this for me.
Only game I’ll really be playing is WoW, so will this card be good for me?
The 1650 is a very marginal improvement over the 770, so I wouldn’t recommend buying it. What does your budget look like? If possible, spring for something like a 1060 or a 1660.
580 is a decent mid tier card that is frequently on sale for around $160. will play anything you throw at it with ease.
i’m running an old 4gb 560 that runs WoW just fine, but games like GTA5, Steep and Far Cry 5 struggle at times. if you plan on playing games with a higher gpu demand, stay away from 1050/ti, 560 and 570. at least aim for the 6gb 1060, 8gb 580 or 1660 ti.
What is the rest of your configuration? I imagine is something old. 1650 is fine. Won’t play at max graphics etc but you will be able to play fine. I actually recommend it.
Buying something more porwerful for an old pc could be a waste because the rest of the configuration wouldnt be able to provide the juice the graphics card requires to function at its level
TL,DR: If I were to upgrade now I would buy gtx1660 non ti version or Radeon 590, whatever is cheapest.
1650 is too weak in my opinion. It’s even weaker than previous generation 1060.
I would recommend chip in a little more and buy Radeon 590 at least. It’s equivalent to 1660 and can be cheaper. Or you could chip in a $50 more to get 1660Ti to which is ~15% faster all round nice new mid range card which will be fine for another couple of years. But it might be a little bit too much for the old system, and non ti version is probably a better price.
I upgraded my 770 to 1060 6gb myself this February, which I actually regret, because I didn’t research properly. But it still runs WoW pretty smoothly on 7 setting, and does hold up well if you want to go to 10 to enjoy the scenery. And that’s with my i7 4770 cpu from 2013. Those cards above should be even better.
If you are looking to see if pc parts are compatible I know of no better tool then this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
I would also suggest doing a price comparison for GPU’s before buying one. The 1650 seems to be going for about $150 so google best GPU’s under $150 and read what are the best and why.
I am using a GTX 1070 TI over clocked, but my cpu is old i5 6500, but I still get solid 60 fps using 4k with an 8 In the graphics settings. I suggest a GTX 1070 or GTX 1660 ti at least.
A gtx 1650 will do just find if you’re on a budget . But if you wanna get the best bang for buck get a RX 570 it’s cheaper and beats the 1650 in performance .
Sounds like you have other issues going on. I hit well over 100 with ultra settings in a raid and I use a 1080 Ti. There are other factors besides just a graphics card to get better fps too like a better monitor using display port and g-sync.
I only have a 1030 and mine does just fine.
There is so little difference between min and max settings in this game that other than particle density, which I keep on ultra, nothing else is worth the frame rate hit for what you get out of it.
That SSAO crap doesnt really add enough of anything to even have it turned on, yet it will destroy your FPS.
If you dont know if it’ll work in your PC, find out before buying it.
In some cases you might need to upgrade your power supply with a video card upgrade, so if your machine is older, that might be a problem.
id personally take my rig to a trusted PC seller and have them figure out if its going to work or not.
I am using the 1050 ti. Don’t have things maxed out. I run everything on 7 with shadows on low and sunshafts off (they annoy me). It is an upgrade from my previous card. The 1650 would be a decent budget card.
The 1650 should work in your existing slot though it may not have its optimum throughput depending on the version of PCIe that you have on the motherboard.
