Well, G’day mates. (I am from Alabama and my Aussie voice attempt just makes me sound drunk. LOL). Anyway, My graphics are admittedly at the very bottom when it comes to Min. requirements. I have an on board Intel UHD 630. I am on disability as I recently on Dec. 31, 2018 became a double amputee. I say that to say this. My finances are tight and I need a graphics card as my FPS recently went into the toilet. I was at 60 fps on graphics 3 setting. now in certain areas it is hitting 45 to 50 fps. What is the minimum I can get away with in order to get decent graphics settings and get rid of the jittery resolution and is there anything I can do in the meantime to my settings to get at least closer to 60?
Thank you and does anyone know of a good website that sells graphics cards at a good price?
The issue is that—depending on how your computer or laptop is physically configured—upgrading the GPU may or may not be an option. Your motherboard and processor would need to support it, the power supply needs to be big enough, and there needs to be a physical spot for it. Right now, your GPU is built into the CPU itself (referred to as integrated graphics), taking no extra space or configuration.
there is a few things to try… in the Graphics settings - set the Graphics Quality to 1 ---- disable Vertical Sync ----- in Advanced settings - have the graphics card not on Auto Detect ----- untick the sliders (max foreground FPS and target FPS - .Mighty Ape has GPUs starting at $99.99 (nzd)
Thank you for the information. I looked and this is a Dell inspiron 3880. It has a slot for a video card. I had forgotten about physical size issues. it definitely will not take a full size card.
Looking at the interior, there seems to be room for a card that doesn’t have an extra row of fans. However, the system has an incredibly low-spec power supply, measuring only 200-watts. All of the 4GB video cards require a 300-watt or higher power supply.
That subReddit I mentioned, and a few others, had lots of results for this model and know exactly which cards work in it. The GT 1030 2G seems to have the most success due to low power consumption.
This card won’t be a huge improvement for the price, as it’s barely better than the Intel UHD 630. In fact, you may be better off optimizing the current setup with some help from Reddit, as well as tossing background apps and addons that cause the game to feel sluggish.
Ultimately, I think getting a different system would be the best option. Looking into refurbished models from Amazon/Newegg or open-box deals from places like Best Buy can save lots of cash.
I kinda wondered if that was the case. I’ll work towards that this year. I’ve built them in the past and I’ll just design and buy components a few parts a month. Thanks. I’m not frustrated or bothered. I just wanted to figure out a direction. I didn’t want to waste money.
